Great question. Depends how highly they would view Smilanic. Jets do also need to make room for some of their younger d.

A 2023 1st round pick to CHI?! For what, Toews on the 3rd line? You're crazy. If Scheif and PLD are both staying, there's no need for Toews and even then, he's worth a 2nd max with half retained.

Edit: ...And that MTL trade is bonkers too. DeMelo and Barron are much more valuable to WPG than Drouin and Smilanic.

With 1/2 retained, Toews is worth more then just a 2nd round pick

A desperate team might do a 2nd + a prospect, but nobody is giving you a 1st round pick in a good draft year for Toews. Especially WPG.

A late 1st in any draft year is a bag of magic beans. For a team that has a obvious hole at 3C and has a good shot to make a run, a late 1st is nothing to pay for not only one of the best captains in the league, still a lock down defensive center, top 10 at the dot, and the experience to drive the locker room. He'd be one of the best 3Cs in the league hands down. So either a 2nd and a good prospect or late 1st is certainly not out of the question.

Well aren't you just a basket of muffins lol

I might agree with you some on Demelo trade but a Jets fan not accepting that Toews deal is pure asinine.

toews did only have 37 in 71 this year with CHI, but CHI was god-awful this year. in 19-20 he had 60 in 70 so its all about taking a chance on if he'll somewhat bounce back from injuries

WPG doesn't have an obvious hole at 3C. Lowry scores just as many goals, is a lockdown defensive center, wins plenty at the dot and is probably in line for a C behind Wheels and Scheif and he can dance with anyone. After him, WPG has a good option in Perfetti for 3C as well.

As for WPG's 1st rounder, it may very well be a top lottery pick. Adding Toews doesn't make them an automatic playoff team. So, trading their 1st for Toews should def be out of the question.

Way to much for Toews… try removing the 1st from WPG and it’s closer
Why in the Hell would WPG want Drouin or waste good assets on getting him… that’s a huge HELL NO

First of all, I like muffins, so thank you. Secondly, my bad for being rude - this is CF after all and I was just responding accordingly smile . Let me try again... I respectfully disagree with your trades. I feel like WPG should just hang on tight to that 1st rounder unless it for an absolute game-breaker. I don't even know who that would be, but it's not a 3C Toews.

DeMelo is WPG's best defensive RD and is a great partner to Morrissey, and WPG traded Copp for Barron+, so they're not giving them up unless it's for someone markedly better, not an unsigned prospect and Drouin.

I was addressing your comment that "nobody is giving a 1st for Toews", which is not necessarily true at all, but I was not addressing the fit in Winnipeg
