JT is part of the reason Toronto cannot get out of the first round. And another huge reason why Toronto is not successful at play off hockey is also going to NY in this trade.

????

JT is a huge reason for toronto's success (wherever they have it)? He's still scoring at just under a PPG pace and had 6pts in 7 games against Tampa. He may have slowed down in terms of his speed but is still one of the best two-way C's in the league. No idea what you're talking about.

I agree JT is a huge reason for Toronto's success in the play offs (0 for 4, although you can't count the Montreal series, so 0 for 3). Not very successful in NY either, one single playoff round there I believe. A minus player over the course of his play offs, with only 1 play off season over his career where he was actually a plus player. He scores at just under a point per game and the line he is playing against contstantly out performs his line when out on the ice. Certainly sounds like one of the best 2 way centers in the league. Toronto top line of M&M constantly draw the checking line and top D tandem of the other team which reduces their effecctiveness, which means the 2nd line, led by JT, needs to be able to win more than they lose when out on the ice in order for the team to succeed. This does not happen. Hence, first round exit after first round exit. You can score at a point per game and take shifts off in your own end in the regular season when the intensity is not top notch, but when the play offs start, it is a different game that requires extra effort and attention to detail in order to succeed.
