Description
Setting up a long term outlook for the core. Positions here are more long term projections than where they are right now

It would have been a lot easier if they hadn't given Palat that contract though

NJD follows suit of taking wingers with term at a reduced price like we saw with Patches and Bjorkstrand

Maybe MTL fans feel they could get more but I'm personally not so sure atm. Understandable if people disagree but don't think its a crazy as it may seem at a first glance

I wonder how many times all Devils fan have to say we want nothing to do with Anderson for people to finally stop throwing him in trades with us...

There aren't many wingers with size out there. Plus who cares what fans think, thats irrelevant. All that matters is the thought process behind the move. Could do a player like Poolparty or Crouse if you think he's more than a 4th liner but especially given the low cost of acquisition and the long term commitment to an aging Palat I don't see how you could be THAT upset by it

Long term cap, the only thing that matters is getting all the money off the books after this year. They aren't contending and cap space this year isn't an issue for them.

Montreal? If Price plays they're at the cap with 22 players and Dach still to sign.

They definitely didn't. You need to stop reading fake reports from 17 year olds in their moms basement making stuff up for suckers

The key difference though is that Palat at least is a top 6 winger and earned the contact he got from NJ. Is the term a little long? Sure. But Anderson is an overpaid bottom 6 who is on a horrific contract that everyone and their mother knew was bad the second he signed it. Good for him to getting the bag, but any logical front office wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.
