100 point player for a Top 4 defenseman is fair, Islanders fans highly underestimate the potential of Jack Rathbone and an extra 1st in what's being hyped as one of the deepest drafts ever is more than fair. The additional 2nd is just gravy for NYI

I wonder that if Bjorkstrand got 3rd+4th as a cap dump, why does Myers get almost the same? He's a much worse player after all. At this rate, VAN should pay to dump him.

MTL trade is bad for VAN. Pearson is better, or at least more consistent, than Drouin is.

Rathbone hasn’t proven ****. He was a 4th rounder in 2017 for ****s sake. You can’t honestly sit here and tell me a 29 year old on an expiring deal is worth as much as the 22 year old Dobson. Idea you can build a trade package around Miller to acquire Dobson is the delusional as **** lol.

To be completely fair we just saw an exact example of this kind of trade happening when Tkachuk was dealt for couple of pending UFAs, and CGY also got a 1st+prospect.

I know NYI fans are balls deep in Dobson but if this type of trade is to become a trend, this is one of the better offers NYI would receive.

Those r two entirely different situations lol. Tkachuk told Calgary he wouldn’t resign and was a year away from UFA status. Why would I want to trade a 22 year old top pair righty d man for a 29 year old forward about to enter a steep decline?

That’s what Canucks fans don’t understand, a “fair” trade doesn’t get you Noah Dobson. To get the isles to consider moving Dobson a team would have to significantly overpay to the point where it’s not worth trading for him. Dobson is pretty much untouchable

Rumors were saying that there is a market for Myers but nothing is happening bcuz the Canucks want a 2nd for him. He may be overpaid but he is a 6'8" dman who's a decent puck mover and would excel in a role where he isn't required to play 22 minutes a night.

Dobson had a breakout season with 51 points at age 22 and he frankly hasn't even hit his peak prime yet. And that's with him mostly working with Chara last season who was terrible out there. I like JT Miller but he's 29, the Canucks can't resign him (which is why they're looking to trade him in the first place), and is about to head out from his prime years in the next 1-3 seasons. He isn't getting 100 points on the Islanders, and his highest previous point total was 72. He's realistically a 40-60 point player depending on the line he's on. Canucks need to free up cap space and get a bit younger at the same time; every team knows this, which is why Miller HASN'T been traded yet. The art of the deal is the game they're playing- lowball offers to the Canucks until either the Canucks get serious or Miller forces the issue.

Canucks fans need to get the hell over Dobson. If I'm GM Lou, I'm not moving a known high-quality asset for a 29-year-old guy on a 1-year contract (or even with an extension). Doesn't matter what he did last year; the odds of repeating that are very slim, while the odds for Dobson getting better are high. Let me put it this way: What would it take to get Hughes or Petterson? Would you accept the same kind of crap offer? Stop playing LOLIslanders games, it gets real old real fast.

Canucks not being able to re-sign Miller is not yet a foregone conclusion. Ask yourself WHY Miller hasn't forced the issue by announcing publicly that he will test the open market next off-season ALREADY

It doesn’t whether he’s under contract or not, Dobson is to the Islanders what Heiskanen is to the Stars. For that reason it would take just as much to pry Dobson from the isles -

The same reason CGY did it? To get better. Short term probably, but better nonetheless, it'd not every day you'd get offered a 100 point player PLUS multitude of valuable assets.

Yes I know CGY's situation was different since Tkachuk wanted out, hence my wording of "if this situation was to become a trend." I don't actually suggest trading Dobson would be a great idea.

I like Dobson, but I would argue right now at this very moment Miller is a superior player on ice.

Adding Miller and subtracting Dobson does not make the isles a better team. It makes them significantly worse.

If Vancouver offered Miller , 2 1sts, and a prospect for Dobson the isles wouldstill decline. Fair value does not get Dobson, he is the most untouchable player on the Islanders.
