Dobson had a breakout season with 51 points at age 22 and he frankly hasn't even hit his peak prime yet. And that's with him mostly working with Chara last season who was terrible out there. I like JT Miller but he's 29, the Canucks can't resign him (which is why they're looking to trade him in the first place), and is about to head out from his prime years in the next 1-3 seasons. He isn't getting 100 points on the Islanders, and his highest previous point total was 72. He's realistically a 40-60 point player depending on the line he's on. Canucks need to free up cap space and get a bit younger at the same time; every team knows this, which is why Miller HASN'T been traded yet. The art of the deal is the game they're playing- lowball offers to the Canucks until either the Canucks get serious or Miller forces the issue.
Canucks fans need to get the hell over Dobson. If I'm GM Lou, I'm not moving a known high-quality asset for a 29-year-old guy on a 1-year contract (or even with an extension). Doesn't matter what he did last year; the odds of repeating that are very slim, while the odds for Dobson getting better are high. Let me put it this way: What would it take to get Hughes or Petterson? Would you accept the same kind of crap offer? Stop playing LOLIslanders games, it gets real old real fast.
