2 years of Myers at 3 mill and Hoglander are also included. Canes need a 2C, Kotkaniemi, Staal or Necas isn't going to cut it if they want to take out Colorado. Miller elevates the top 6 and power play significantly. Necas is good but he's nothing special. Also Pacioretty and Staal come off the books the year after so Canes can easily re-sign Miller and it would be worth it

The Canes aren’t going to sign a 30yr old to
8yr deal.

Pesce is significantly better and younger than Myers.

Necas has the potential to be a 60-70pt scorer next season and is 7yrs younger than Miller.

I could give a **** about Hoglander. He wouldn’t play in the Canes top 9 so he has no value to them.

Stop trying to justify Miller to CAR, it makes no sense.

guy thinks Pettersson is worth Pesce 1 for 1. Laughable

This is what canes fans feel like with the repeated insufferable miller to CAR trades. Harness that feeling and stop making those ACGMs for the love of all that is holy.

Why would they?

He’s a rental to them. Necas is 7yrs younger with 4 yrs of team control.

Time to come to reality chief. No team is giving Vancouver anywhere close to your sad fantasy returns.

Because they are absolutely in win now mode, and bringing in an over a PPG player might push them over the edge. You may disagree with my proposal thats fine, but this is going too far in the other direction lmao.

They’re all unrealistic and you’re seriously over estimating what miller will bet you bc of his age and contract situation. But please continue to think everyone else is crazy and you’re a genius.

How do you know there in “absolute win now mode”?

Have they acted like that over the past 4 seasons? Hmmm…no. They don’t pay rental prices, they just made a team pay them a young RD to take on a 30g scorer.

Laugh your ass off all you want. You obviously don’t know anything about how the Canes front office operates. Your proposal was **** and you’ve been called out by numerous Canes fans regarding it. Might want to take that as a clue.

Just because the Canes could “easily” resign Miller doesn’t mean that they will. Canes have no interest in giving Miller that absolute albatross of a contract he wants, and if the Canes did, one of either Turbo or Skjei would have to be sacrificed. Canes aren’t going to sacrifice Turbo or Skjei just to give Miller money. Myers isn’t a good enough replacement if Pesce were to be traded, and Hoglander’s play really doesn’t give the Canes much hope. And might I remind you, the Canes were the only team to shut out Colorado at all this past season, so they can hold a candle to them. The Canes don’t need a 2C, since they have KK. He was on pace to break his best totals in MTL with 4th line minutes and less than stellar linemates. He will be much better with more playing time and better linemates, as indicated by his 1.5PPG when playing with over 15:00mins TOI in a game.

Believe it or not, the Canes don’t need Miller. Plus, they don’t want him. And even if they did, they would be paying for a rental, which means Vancouver isn’t getting Necas, Pesce, or any first rounders.

Sounds good to me.

Another year of growth from Svechnikov and Aho and Jarvis…oh yeah, that Necas fellow too, along with the addition of Pacioretty ought to do wonders.

Well you clearly didn't watch many Van games if you think Miller had a fluke year. He's had the 12th most points in the league the last 3 seasons combined.

I watched a number of Canes games, including playoffs. They couldn't score for jack, so goodluck beating Toronto, Tampa, Colorado etc. in the playoffs then. "there isn't anyone on the Canucks roster the Canes would trade for Pesce" are you serious??? How do you not see that that is way overvaluing Pesce? You can disagree with my proposal, thats fine. But thats taking it too far haha..
That might be the most ridiculous thing I've seen on here.

Kind of hard to watch Vancouver games when you live on the opposite side of the continent and in a time zone where it is not beneficial to stay up until close to 2AM whenever their games aren’t blacked out, which just so happens to be about 75% or more of the time. So no, I don’t watch Vancouver games often. Look, I’m not the one who came up with the stupid proposal. If you are incapable of handing the inevitable flaming you would get for this crap, don’t post it. It’s that simple.

Canes definitely need a 2C if theyre going to compete against the top teams. It doesn't 'have' to be Miller, but this is a definite hole for them. KK isn't gunna cut it.

You don't think Miller will get at least a 1st and a good prospect? Which is pretty standard for a high quality rental.

are u not worried about losing staal, pacioretty, Anderson, and rantta the year after? Id be surprised if any of those guys re-signed given how frugal the canes are. Same thing with Skjei and Pesce the year after, they are going to want to cash out after being signed to friendly deals. Canes fans are saying they wouldn't sign a 30 yr old Miller to a 5/6 year deal worth around 8.5 mill but are going to sign 30 yr old Skjei and Pesce to 6+ mill each doesn't make sense.

an 100 point player definitely could have made the difference against the Rangers. They desperately needed goals, if he had 4-5 points in that series they easily could have won.

Why would they be worried. This FO has shown time and again they know what they’re doing - maybe VAN can take notes with the new guard.

Staal will probably take a cheap deal to stay on a contender where he has roots down, if not Drury KK Necas behind Aho is fine. Patches can go chase more money if he wants, if he likes it here and performs he’ll take a cheaper deal but canes aren’t going to pay a 30+ year old a big extension. Skjei has had his career revamped here but if he wants to cash in then good for him. Pesce they’ll spend on, he’s a core piece. Freddy will get an extension offer for a couple years but they won’t blow the load on him - Koochie will be ready and they can find a 1B if needed.

You mistake frugality with a solid valuation methodology and framework.

Buddy they brought In 37 yr old burns at 5 million for 3 years when they could have signed 26 yr old Deangelo for the same price and less term.

They underperformed last year. Favored to beat the rags and lost in game 7. Teams were battling for the division until last 2 games of season. But they did win it so they were favored. Outside of that they didn’t lose as the favorite in any series the prior 3 years. Of course I wish they did but to say they underperformed is just not accurate.

They’ve also addressed some of their issues by bringing In high end talent in burns and patches. Guys like Aho Svech Jarvis and probably Necas are very reasonable bets to continue to improve based on their age, skill set and historical comparisons. You continuing to think that substantially overpaying for miller or another older rental as the only way they can win in the playoffs is comical.

Buddy, they turned a depreciated assets career around and moved him for 3 picks and then got burns retained for nothing. Similar to how they got patches. If you legit think tda is better than burns or the move for patches wasn’t a master class I can’t help you. Keep playing checkers.

Fine then, I watched Carolina in the playoffs and they can't score. This is what they would need to push them over the edge; make a sacrifice from Defense to Offense. I know it would be expensive, but may be worth consdering. If Carolina trades Pesce that would give them ~8 Mill to work with. Not saying they should do that signing, but it's not completely out of question.

Defense wins cups when the whole team is playing defensively and turning it into offence. You cant win when you're converting turnovers into nothing. Makar is a perfect example. Guy can shutdown McDavid then carry the puck end to end and score. He's basically a forward and defenseman all in one. Shut down defense doesn't win ****.

Miller has a one hit wonder season and now he is worth the world? Yeah no. Canes aren’t trading Necas and especially Pesce, let alone either of them straight up for Miller. Miller over performed last year, and he not worth giving up anything more than what DeBrincat got. And he should be getting less than DeBrincat just based on age alone. You may have watched every Vancouver game, but you clearly only watched 2 Canes games, and those games were against Vancouver. And Canucks fans wonder why Canes fans are fed up with these stupid proposals. There isn’t anyone on the Canucks roster the Canes would be willing to trade Pesce. Miller will never play a game in a Canes jersey since the Canes aren’t going to pay the price that Vancouver wants for Miller, and the Canes won’t give Miller that contract he wants. Jeez, and I thought Montreal fans were bad. At the very least this isn’t as bad as a couple of Leafs fans. Yet.

Miller has been a PPG since he came to Vancouver, not sure why you can't get that into your head
