Détails additionnels:
Top RW, guaranteed 90 points, PK specialist, PP wizard, Mitch Marner apparently has negative value in this league.

    1. Muzzin, Jake
    Détails additionnels:
It would be better to have Calvin De’Haan for 4 years at 4.75 M vs Jake Muzzin at 5.6 for 2 years.

    2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (TOR)
    3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (TOR)
    Détails additionnels:
Tavares is not capable of being a Centre anymore. 76 points in 79 games, shutting down top players from opposing top lines, Top Faceoff man in the league, and eating up 18 + mins a night is certainly not 2nd Centre caliber.

    Détails additionnels:
As usual, Justin Holl who averaged 20 mins a night, plays valuable PK time, a rental with a low cap hit of 2 M, big body, physical and blocks shots regularly, is not worth anything to anybody. Whilst Gudbranson is easily a $4M player...

    This year , no
    Next year maybe

Issue is teams screw themselves cap wise
VGK did it and now have given away 2 productive players even paying to move almost a point per game player.
    Its pretty simple

Teams like VGK screw the rest of the league signing deals like they do then paying to move them
Those are players that many others sought out and were denied based on such actions
Few are lining up to reward that instead seeing the leverage they now have.

Pacioretty for Example had CAR in on him before VGK surprised everyone throwing in Suzuki
CAR now made VGK pay them a prospect to take their nearly point per game player on

That said TML isnt in that situation just yet
Close but wont screw themselves that bad until Matthews deal
In order to keep him 15m easy will be the ask given he's forgoing a Cup but staying in Drought City
ARZ is in a position where paying him to be the Face of the Franchise win or lose is worth it
You know they've got the Cap and the motivation as they're very close to relocation IMO (when aState stops trusting you can pay bills thats an issue)
Matthews is their Hail Mary's of all Hail Mary's so dont be surprised if they're aggressive .

While Matthews may stay there's no scenario he goes out of character taking a team friendly deal like i've been pitched by some TML fans.
My Point is if you're just gonna have to pay the most anyways during Free Agency why not Trade him for a Profit first?

At some point this is a Business
If you couldnt build a Playoff roster even with him at 11+ million
How can you pretend you'll build one with him at 15+ million

Just saying TML isnt far off from being as screwed as VGK

I support the trade of Muzzin. Everyone does need to accept that he has value and is not a cap dump.

He should bring back more than McDonagh did for Tampa..

If the McDonagh, Petry, Pacioretty, Burns, and Bjorkstrand trades haven’t convinced you that players making over $5 mil have next to no value in trades, I’m not sure what will.

Incorrect, it is quite literally a cap dump. Same with Holl. Doesn’t mean they don’t have value, but TOR is trying to shed their CAP hit so they can re-sign Sandin and sign other FAs. That is the literal definition of cap dump lol.

If it wasn’t a cap dump, teams would have reached out and inquired by now (as they did with RM). Teams don’t want to give up assets and picks for an injury prone D making that kind of money.

and other players can be moved, like i said, those other teams were in worse situations, muzzin is by no means a negative asset and will not need a pick or prospect to move him

I never said he had negative value. I said he had no value to counter the point you made saying he’d net a higher return than McDonagh, which is false.

Except he has zero value to the Hawks who are rebuilding and too much risk with him to go through the effort of acquiring and trying to flip him at the TDL or next offseason while taking up a salary retention slot which the Hawks should value quite a bit given the players they are planning to flip for better or higher returns.

If You're trading Marner for a top pairing D call Calgary. They would have the cap space to do it. St Louis would be hard pressed to get enough room. Tavares wouldn't waive for Winnipeg. Ottawa would seem to be a good trade partner for some of your D, like Muzzn and Holl, as Arizona and Chicago don't have needs for either. Pretty sure their goal is to tank and collect futures.

Ok, but you’re missing the other side where it’s extremely undervaluing a guy like weegar.
Here are the issues with the guys presented:
Marner:great player, salary very difficult to move and paid at a rate where he is your top star. Very rarely do you win with a winger as your top star, typically it’s c, d, or g. Position just doesn’t have the effect of the others.

Muzzin: a.ntc b.flat cap makes deal hard to move to a team that would be needing a player like him at his age. Rebuilding squads simply won’t give assets for him.

Tavares:over 30, huge contract, and again wouldn’t waive anyway. If he did, flat cap would make it impossible a team that would want him to acquire him. Rebuilders would not want to give the assets.

HollSticking Out Tonguerobably gets a couple mid picks. But he’s constantly used to acquire much better defenseman on here which is rubbish

Oh what nonsense. You guys are hilarious. And let's be 100: the majority of the Marner "hate" on this site comes from Leafs fans. Yeah. And they ain't exactly kind to Holl, either. You guys need to shelve the whole victim act. More often than not, it's TML AGMS that bring the most whackadoo around here.

This is an absurd statement. McDonagh and Petry are the only two you listed that I would compare with Muzzin and they both fetched a positive return.

Im not saying that Muzzin is going to get the Leafs a 1st rounder or anything. I just think people need to accept that the Leafs will not be paying to get rid of him.
