Dubois = hit 50 pts+ demands trade
Every team he's joined got worse not better
No team he played on was in Contender talks
Cant win Faceoffs , Inconsistent on D and Flukey on Offense
His only Consistency is in his Inconsistency

We're overpaying for a worse version of Danault
Just in time for Caufield's contract negotiations to justify more if we over someone as mediocre as PLD

1 You sign Cole and Dubois to 2 unrealistic contracts

2 Huberdeau is likely going to want a 7 year deal and probably more per year than Gaudreau got paid

3 Rebuilds do not end in 2 years. You want a quick fix to a bigger problem. Even if we got Bedard trading for Dubois and signing Huberdeau are not bright moves. Those two will cost at least 18 million a year for at least 7 seasons. How do you pay Cole, Bedard or Fantilli, Slafkovsky, Guhle, and Barron?

What is a realistic contract to CC and PLD?

If we pick Bedard and Fantilli, I agree that we dont need Dubois.

Cole isn’t likely to sign for 8 years off an ELC. I think 3-4 years at 5.75-6.5 is the likely deal. Dubois is going to want the kind of money he can make as a UFA in 2024. I’m guessing at least 8 million a year. Then Huberdeau asks for more than Johnny Gaudreau got, so at least 10 million. Before you know it those ELC are up and we are in cap hell

It's hard to know their real value, it will probably depend on their 2022-2023 season. Especially for Caufield

There is no rational reason for Winnipeg to trade Dubois now for less than what he gets at the TDL in 2 years. Especially after his interview yesterday.

Today yes
Next Summer likely not

I see Slavkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield doing really well
Slavkosky will likely win ROY IMO
Caufield will get atleast 25 goals and 65 points and thats under his production with MSL which is 22 goals and 35 point in 37 games

As for Dubois or Huderdeau i'd rather neither and build up the youth
But Hughes is going to sign another big name forward and a RD as per his interviews he's looking
I think he's just trying to get a similar situation to NYR getting his Panarin type top 10 annual player

I'd rather go to Free Agency if we need depth
Bergeron is just as french as they others that MTL media claims Hughes is after lol
Beyond that even declining he'll be a better Center at 40 then PLD in his Prime

He walk back wanting to play for MTL did he?
Deffinately found that weird to hear from a competing teams top 6 center

Yeah. He explained why he was at the draft in Montreal and said that he has not asked to be traded.

His agent seems to be contradicting him
Did he say what he intends to do about that?
Or is this just Dubois reading a prepared statement to save face?

To my knowledge there's little motivation for an Agent to act against his clients wishes.
Last time i remember seeing something like this was Pacioretty then he got traded and fessed up

I'd imagine there is some truth to it, but he made it sound like a lot of stuff was taken out of context or exaggerated. So, well have to see.

It was 100% forsure but the source is his agent's twitter statements
Its not like some PR guy that works for his agent casually leaked info
These were official statements which is what i found weird about it

My first thought was "can he do that " cause i know Pacioretty's comments leaked and he got crap for it.(that he wanted out of MTL even fired an agent for handling it wrong)
Either way sounds like he's going to atleast try this year in WPG i was half expecting him to sulk lowering his trade value but that's only because Patches did

I'm not worried about him sulking as that hurts him more than it hurts the Jets. He's playing for his big FA contract, he can't afford to dog it.

Caufield won't take an AVV less than what Suzuki is making. Probably same contrat 8 x 7.8M.
You won't get Huberdeau in Montreal for 9.5M. You will have to give him Panarin money, likely 7 x 11M.

Honestly don't think the Habs need Dubois. I'm fine with Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak and Evens as our centers for the future.

Wingers dont get the same as Centers.
Even Lecavlier made 1m more then St Louis off their ELC's and 2m more on their next deals
Its always like that unless your CHI and have 2 all stars with ELC's up then they sign matching Bridge deals and extensions
That's not very often a team has two former top 3 picks start and play together at such a high level long term leading to 3 stanley cups

The only other case's i can think of the Wingers are top 5 NHL scoring regularly and their counterpart is not
But as far as balanced 1-2 punches over the years Center always earns atleast 500k more then the Winger

Even if they do match though i'll get that
Paying more then Suzuki makes no sense given Production and Consistency
