Bob can still help ur team win unlike Vlasic. This seems like a bad trade and you only shed a few million dollars doing it.

Should a pick come from San Jose then?

Absolutely not from San Jose. Taking on $15 mil plus isn’t an option. Vlasic and simek combined aren’t as expensive as Bob. Add a top prospect and a 2nd and San Jose considers

No I think Florida has to bite the bullet and trade Bennet or Reinheart for a young d man. Lundell can play the role of a second line center anyway. He probably has to in a year or two cause they can’t move Bob.

    Vlasic can barely skate.

San Jose is trading the best player with the most value in the deal. Vlasic is $3 mil cheaper a year than Bob who had average stats on the best team in the regular season.

I’m assuming you are talking about Reimer? All I’m saying is that I don’t think it’s worth taking Vlasic to make that happen.

Isn’t Vlasic unwilling to waive his NMC anyway?

Yes Reimer, almost same stats as Bob on a much worse team on a much better contract. I mean it literally saves them $3 mil a year compared to Bob.

Yeah I don’t think he would waive, he says he wants to stay in San Jose. I mean maybe he would waive for a playoff contender like Florida.

It’s more about the last 3 years of Vlasic being worse than the last 3 years of Bob imo. The savings would only be 750 K next year in a Vlasic/Reimer for Bob trade. Then you have to factor in the cost of a replacement in the years to come. Imo it’s difficult to move Bob for a bad contract cause he can still play.

I think he'd waive in this case. Savings on taxes and Ft Lauderdale area is subjectively nicer than bay area save maybe wine country in the north bay. Contender like you mentioned.
The other place that comes up for Vlasic is MTL but I'm not sure how much his connection there will compel him to waive
