Could there be a trade with Pulju and Kylington at the core? Edmonton could use another LHD, albeit Kylington is not exactly a veteran yet which would be the ideal support for Broberg, but still not a bad fit.

Kylington may get dealt to run a Weegar - Tanev pair (playing Weegar with Ras would be poor chemistry and the Hanifin - Ras pair was incredible last year). However Tanev is going to be out until at least November so unless the plan is to run Valimaki on the 2nd pair (which it could end up being) then idk if he will be shopped just yet

In essence yes but I don't think Calgary has much interest/need for Poolparty. Blocking Pelletier or forcing him to 3rd line is already not ideal

The reason I didn't do that, is because Oilers don't have the cap. So oilers would need to more someone else out also in that case. Or at least I didn't think they did. I would need to check.

For sure, would need to trade out Barrie to be replaced with a cheaper 3RD or still offload Foegele. An offload of Barrie would make the most sense, Broberg Samorukov and Koekkoek can all play the right side, or they could get a cheaper true righty for that third pair

The Oilers need a RHD more than anything, especially if Barrie is getting moved. And why does everyone think Koekkoek is going to be magically good enough to make the team this yr when he couldnt crack the roster last year?? Also how is it ideal to play total rookies like Broberg or Samorukov on their off side?? If the Oilers are going to try and trade for any Calgary dman it should be Weegar or Andersson.

I'm not saying you rely on them to only cover the off side - I clearly said a cheaper 3RD is a good option. But in a pinch they all have experience on their off side and so could support as 7th D on either side, Samorukov particularly played his off side almost always in the KHL.

Not assuming Koekkoek would be anything more than the 9th D in the org here - he was injured a lot of last season, just listing him as a 9th option.

So they could all support behind a Nurse-Ceci, Kulak-Bouch, Kylington- 1-2mil RHD (Subban, Stralman, Michael Stone).
