Gourde is another middle 6 center. We improved the top 6 scoring depth and the defense. KK had similar metrics to Troch per 60 and replicated his play when forced up in the lineup in smaller stretches last season.

While they could use improvement there adding Gourde doesn’t solve anything, definitely not worth our first next year. Plus the team is committed to KK and I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt (as most Canes fans who follow closely are) since they’ve been pretty spot on with this leadership group. Necas also available to step in at 2C this year if he earns it.

You can all live in your alternative universe where KK is a 2nd line centre and you can also expect to see more eliminations in the postseason as a result. Tampa and the Rangers are still both better teams

So gourde is a 2C on a contender? That’s your answer? 2C is a question mark for the canes but putting Gourde in there doesn’t solve it and also pushes somebody the org believes can play in 2C to a bottom 6 wing position and further derails his progression.
