i dont think miller is the right fit for the devils. resigning him will prob be in the 7.5-8 mill range and van wants the world in a trade. if you really want him i would wait till draft day and try to get his rights for cheap if available

I am not a huge fan of Severson, mostly because I don't think his age fits with Vancouver's timeline. That said, I probably take this offer if I am Vancouver. I think it is better than the reported NYR offer that was turned down.

Based on them both being on expiring contracts and you having the cap space, just not roster space, some teams who fancy themselves as competitive might give you futures if you retain salary. Toronto comes to mind on needing cheap depth.

Might even be some interesting things New Jersey could do with Toronto to get them inexpensive depth and take one of their overweight contracts for a year to stockpile a few more high end futures that you could weaponize in a year or two when the team is in it's window.
