At this point, the jackets just need to offload some salary. And it doesn't need to be anything crazy. Chychrun is overrated and doesn't need to be on the team. Thachuk wants to be in STL, so there that. This team can compete in the playoffs as is now.

Worst trade of the offseason after MaxPac for nothing. I rather have Bjorkstrand than Maxpac so it's close with the 3rd and 4th being almost worthless.

Jarmo & staff hit on more 3rd/4ths than most hit on 1sts/2nds.
I would have preferred Nyquist myself since he only has 1 year left.But that is why Jarmo chose Bjorkstrand, for the same reason…the same value he unloaded this year with Olli to make cap, he will also lose that value next year when Nyquist contract expires, so he can sign Gavi & Peeke in 2023. I like Bjorkstrand a lot, but agree Gaudreau is a huge upgrade.
And you can’t keep all the toys all the time.
