Description
It's crazy how Jets fans think Dubois will get a massive return from other teams yet I haven't seen too many other fanbases posting Dubois trades. I wonder why that is?! Hmm perhaps cause no other fanbase wants to give up value for a player that they know will leave in 2 years time. Maybe it's cause he has now given up on 2 different franchises and they see his value as significantly declining. Maybe just maybe it's because of the ridiculous prices that Jets fans keep putting on him. Anyway, I don't see many teams making offers (outside the Habs and Jets of course).

They can want all they want but the fact remains they aren't getting much cause they are trading from position of weakness not strength.

You do realize, that the trade tree on this breaks down as Sergachev, a 1st, 2 2nds and Armia?

Just pointing that out.

I think they can get slightly better than this but not much.

Also don't think any other team is beating anything the Habs are offering.

Highly doubt any trade deadline deal for Dubois being any better, no team is offering their A-prospect and 1st for Dubois, is Boston sending Lysell/1st? Is Nashville sending Kemell/1st?
I doubt it.

If that is the Habs offer then Jets keep PLD and trade him at 2023 TDL or 2024 TDL to a contending team (they'll get more than that as a rental) and Habs will have to risk PDL changing his mind if he ends up in NY, FLa or LA. liking it there and signing long term. Habs maybe fine with that too. TBH as a Jets fan I hope the Habs loose interest in him and he ends up getting traded to Phoenix, Dallas or Buffalo spends the rest of his career bouncing around and never ending up a Hab.

But that offer is bad
You don’t get a 1st but a 2nd but we get a 3rd ? What lol Take out the 3rd going to MTL, take out Armia and replace him with one prospect and it’s more realistic IMO

No they aren’t. PLD still owes 2 years.
Sign by December or sit a year and STILL owe 2 years. Sign one year? Jets still own his rights for another year. Play like **** to prove a point? Drives his name and agent further into to mud and affect his long term earnings.
He’s worth more at the TDL retained to a contender. How fast Montreal fans forget that Chiarot got the return he did at the TDL as a pure rental. Chevy will get a good return as people fail to recognize that Chevy holds all the cards here.
Brisson really ****ed up on this one.

Does it? Or am I missing the sarcasm?

In my world, Dubois for Dvorak and a 2nd.

Defensively very comparable, and what more are you getting out of Duboid offensively? Maybe 25 points?

To add Drouin is nuts (a 50 point guy) and Armia, who maybe overpaid, but plays a gritty game a lot of teams would love for half the money.

So yes.... Dvorak and a 2nd is where I would be at.

By slightly better I meant change the 2nd to Florida's 1st OR just make some conditions on it being the later of the Habs or Panthers 1st.

Add some B-prospect too and it's good.

Good post. Dvorak career PPG is 0.5 compared to Dubois 0.66... so over 82 games that is 13 pts. Not a major difference yet Jets fan's (specifically one) has claimed Dvorak is worth a 3rd round pick yet Dubois is worth a top prospect and a 1st round pick in their eyes.

Dvorak is cheaper and only 2 years older. Dubois has more upside, but it's not like he is a superstar... and after what he pulled in Columbus and now that he wants out of WPG not even two full seasons later limits his value around the league.

It's crazy how Montreal fans think the Jets will accept less than what Dubois gets at the TDL in two years if trading him now. Just absolute nonsensical reasoning and "logic" on their part. About as silly as the "you'll lose him for nothing" arguments.

Less than zero chance Chevy trades Dubois and adds to him for two cap dumps and an overpaid marginal 3C. Hilarious. The OP really needs to research trades a little so they have a basic understanding.

Yeah but we also need to shed cap space so adding Drouin, whose value is pretty low right now and Armia who is slightly overpaid but still has some value. I mean we could get a late 1st or 2nd at the TDL for Drouin if we retain and he has had a great season or trade Armia for a 3rd or 4th at the deadline but we would need the cap now so trading them together with a pick for a 3rd now is mutually beneficial. Even if the Jets don't make the playoffs after the trade they can still flip Drouin for a 1st if he has a good season. The only down side for Jets fans here is IF Drouin plays 50 games then decides the pressure is too much again and sits out the remainder of the season. They only get the 2nd and he is no longer tradable even with retention but that risk is still just minor.

We are talking about a disgruntled PLD here not Jack Freaking Eichel who only got marginally more than this offer. So perhaps it is maybe you that needs to research some trades so you can have a basic understanding of how they work. PLD is a good top 6 center there is no denying that but he is not a Crosby, McDavid, Eichel or MacKinnon level player. At best he is a Suzuki level player but with the added baggage of wanting out of Winnipeg. Would you give up what you are asking for Nick Suzuki if he wanted out of Montreal? No you wouldn't cause he is not worth more than Eichel and it's just stupid to pretend he is.

In a contract year I wouldn't be worried about this, Drouin has no choice but to play through any adversity this year.

He can't force the Jets to do anything no, but Dubois is in charge of contract negotiations, therefore MTL has an edge in trade negotiations over any teams Dubois wouldn't sign a long term deal.

8 years of Dubois is worth more than 2 years of Dubois, MTL can justify offering more than other teams. Therefore it is mutually beneficial for WPG to trade Dubois to a destination where he will sign a long term deal.

And it is stupid for us to derail our rebuild to trade for him. He would be our second line centre. We would be paying him upward of 7 million plus a year and we are already against the cap with bad contracts. Trading for him is a ridiculous idea. If he is so eager to play for us he will sign in 2024

The only way a trade makes sense is next summer after the draft when we know who we have selected or if Chevy comes down to a more acceptable price.

Here’s what I would be willing to trade for Dubois that actually makes sense for Winnipeg to consider:

Dvorak Norlinder and a 3rd round pick

Dumping Drouin and Armia on them is ridiculous. Why would they bother?

And that offer would come NEXT summer.
