Prayers to all those in the Eastern time zone who will wake up to this trade
I'm in the Atlantic time zone, went to check Twitter one last time before bed and Elliot was on my feed saying Tkachuk to Florida. I went from tired to wired in like 5 seconds.
Full trade, per sources:To #FlaPanthers:Matthew Tkachuk (extension in place)To #Flames:Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 1st round pick.@DailyFaceoff
Tbh Denisenko and Balcers aren’t that great, and I wonder how Bennett will do without Huberdeau. This is still a downgrade on last year’s forward group, and obviously losing Weegar is a huge hole in their defense. Tkachuk+Barkov might be a top 3 duo in the league though, and I’m pretty confident in Lundell’s ability to fill that 2C hole. Don’t forget that Duke is out half the year though btw, which makes their depth even weaker (probably Hornqvist at 3RW, slide Balcers up to 2LW and Verhaeghe goes to 1LW or something).

Exactly the same for me, except I'm in european time zone and it's f*cking 7 AM for me and I would've been sleeping long before if I wasn't following these world championships.

You also forgot the worst - having Paul Maurice behind the bench

Weegar + healthy Tanev would legitimately be the best shutdown duo in the league and it’s not close. They could probably match up better than Zadorov and Gudbranson 💀💀 Not that that will still be a line, or you’ll just get caved in whenever anyone else is on the ice.

I was like 3 minutes from falling asleep when I got the notification
Might be a crazy time to ask, but what is the general opinion on what the Canes do with the remaining 4 mil left in cap space having Necas and Bear still left to sign? I can't exactly see us finding a way to keep both.
