Description
Before everyone overreacts make sure you know the following facts:
Lindholm 2018-22 = GP 289, G 117, Asst 144, TP 261
Barzal 2018-22 = GP 308, G 69, Asst 157, TP 226

I am 45+ year Isles fan loyally but we all need to get off the Barzy elite wagon. He has elite talent but it has yet to manifest itself outside his rookie season. Lindholm is quite honestly the better player at both ends of the ice. So this just thinking out loud if perhaps youth for youth maybe actually improves the team

St. Louis doesn’t want bailey. Also they have 0 leverage with Tarasenko if they want to add Tkachuck. Stop overpaying for 31 year olds.

I don’t care how long you’ve been an islanders fan, your take on Barzal is incorrect. I guarantee you were in favor of trading Devon Toews, isles fans love to throw away elite players for scraps

Dude it doesn’t even make sense for the isles to give up a lot for Tarasenko. If the blues want Tkachuck they need to move him. It’s embarrassing to see islanders fans posting these gross overpays for Tarasenko when all they do is **** and moan about how old this roster is.

Lindholm most common linemates last season: Gaudreau and Tkachuk

Barzal most common linemates : Zach Parise and Josh Bailey

That may be the case, but it makes worlds less sense for the Blues to move Tarasenko for the purpose of clearing cap to take back a guy who will cost them more total cap across two seasons. Not happening.

This Barzal trade is garbage. Lindhom is the older player, he’s two years from UFA status and he’s the worse ****ing player. Trading for Coronato in the deal just shows that you know he is from Long Island and grew up an isles fan. But let me tell y’all something.

You all want to get rid of Bailey? Fine whatever. But you want to get even older and give up picks in the process? I really wish you isles fans who showed up two years ago when we finally started winning would go home. You guys give this fanbase a bad name and you don’t know what you are talking about. If you move Bailey’s contract you do it to add a 24 year old. Not another player approaching middle age.

I legit agree with you on Bailey. But everyone and their mother knows Tarasenko is on his way out. He’s 31 years old and even if he was healthy last year no one is overpaying for him and his 31 year old shoulder.

Heh. "Knows" huh? I said nothing of an overpay. I only said Bailey is a non-starter. Which he obviously is for the reason mentioned.

Dude everyone wants to complain about how old this team is and then they propose getting Patrick Kane. This is what happens when 80% of ur fan base didn’t play hockey and started following the team when they started winning. Honestly the number of people IK who didn’t play hockey or any other sport growing up and now try and tell me I’m wrong about the isles is hysterical.

Overpay? This is an underpayment. Even at 30 Tarasenko outperformed all Isles players on offense, something they need desperately.

He is obviously a great player. But he’s 31 and on an expiring deal. Look at what Pacioretty got and get back to me.

Vegas was over the cap and still is right now. Blues aren't and don't have to trade Tarasenko at this moment. Major difference between where the clubs are at.

Right but if they are Tkachuck then he has to be moved. I wouldn’t move major assets for a 31 year old. You can argue that he is worth it, but I don’t think that trading picks for old players is ever a good idea. Especially right after missing the playoffs. Isles need a younger option next to Barzal. That’s all.

They have plethora of LD they could trade (Krug for example) if they really want to go after Tkachuk. Tarasenko should be traded and no he won't go for a major prospect, but a 1st isn't unreasonable.

I disagree with you about both the first and the idea Krug is tradeable. I’ve suggested Beau and Mayfield for Tarasenko and Bortuzzo. But I don’t c any reason to move guys who aren’t 18 years old yet for a 31 year old Russian. I just don’t believe in it tbh.

If he was 25 I’d be lining up to give you whatever you wanted. Asking for a first for Tarasenko is unreasonable imo. Especially when the blues r gonna turn around and use it as part of their package to get Tkachuck. Hard pass.

How is a 1st for a point per game player unreasonable? Krug is tradeable. Whether it's smart is a different thing. Tarasenko alone is worth Beau and Mayfield.

It’s about his age and his contract status. If you guys needed to move Vlad to sign Tarasenko you might deal him for Beauvillier just so you can send him to Calgary. That full NTC is a problem for you guys rn.

I mean Mayfield is probably worth a first at the deadline. I don’t think Tarasenko and Bortuzzo who is a depth guy for Beauvillier and Mayfield is an unreasonable offer.

Tarasenko is worth a first and then some at the deadline. See Claude Giroux.
