Détails additionnels:
No chance montreal trades caufield, suzuki, dach, guhle, slafkovsky.. etc. It's clear PLD wants to be in montreal in two years when he is a UFA so that will drastically drop the price of some teams... this deal helps winnipeg now and in the future... if they don't do something like this they may lose PLD for nothing in two years.

I was listening to a great Podcast on the Athletic about this today and they made some compelling arguments as to why this deal probably gets done next off-season.

    1) Habs are gonna be terrible regardless next season
    2) Lots of money coming off the cap next season for the Habs
    3) Habs won't give up an unprotected 1st for the 2023 season but they may for the 2024 season (after the 2023 draft)
    4) There's a bit of an "is PLD for real?" factor. It's always scary to think you paid for someone after their best ever season. Will they repeat/improve/decline? Another season at 60+ pts will cement PLD's identity
    5) Habs will get a better draft pick in 2023 without PLD
    6) Habs will know "who Dach is?" if they plan to include him in the deal, or if he plays so well they no longer need PLD (however unlikely)

The only compelling reason to do the deal now is:

The Jets may drop their ask because Chevy just wants to put this mess behind him. But he was not that way with Laine, Trouba, Kane ... so why would he do that for PLD?

Not to mention Anderson says no....he has a No -Trade clause of 8 teams... 100% WIN is on it.

And yet Anderson was rumored to be one of the pieces going to the Jets in this trade that fell through at the draft, would assume Winnipeg is on his no trade list but maybe not.

Didn't see anything with Anderson going back to the Jets....matter of fact.... I haven't heard an actual name of anybody in any legit report other than MTL offered 3 players at the draft.

Guys like Anderson, Dvorak, etc. showing in "rumors" are all just people trying to put two and two together, thinking they could be a fit.

I'll restate my previous comment that 99% WIN is on Anderson's NTC.... but you never know!

Then they will lose him for nothing.
Montreal is on a rebuild for the next 3+ years - they will not give up big pieces of a rebuild in the next 2 years... when PLD becomes UFA and wants out of WPG.

WPG is NOT in a position of strength here.
Think Jeff Petry, Pacioretty, Tkatchuk, etc.

You're likely right, I read a piece on one of the hockey websites and there was a Twitter post in it from I think it was a Montreal media guy who said it was Anderson as one of the pieces but the hell if I could find that article now with the amount of Dubois/Jets/Habs stories that have flooded the web since the draft.. lol

I was skeptical too though cause I assume Winnipeg is one of the 8 teams on his no trade list, but as you said ya never know!

Will be interesting to see how this shakes out, I think the return will be underwhelming for most Jets fans.

How can you be on cap friendly and not understand how what RFA is. How exactly would Winnipeg lose him for nothing, when they can trade him?

Petry and Pacioretty were cap dumps, Dubois isn't.

I'm talking about losing him for nothing... in 2 years. Cause i know he is UFA in 2 years and RFA now.
WPG has 2 years to extract some value to a player that will walk out.

    Was Tavares a cap dump?
    Was Gaudreau a cap dump?

Please, please, remember this post when PLD gets traded and look at the value WPG gets.

Why would Winnipeg lose him for nothing? They'll just trade him before that happens.

You seem to be struggling with understanding what a cap dump is.

How can 2 players that weren't traded be crap dumps? Please explain.

I'm saying they were NOT cap dumps bro. Sorry for misunderstanding.
I was saying that Tavares and Gaudreau - once they hit UFA (which I know is 2 years away for Dubois) - decided to just walk away and their previous team got nothing in exchange.

This is what is on the horizon for WPG in 2 years.

CGY now has been told by Tkachuk that he will NOT sign a long-term deal with them. Yes, he is RFA, but if he tells them that, it means that as soon as he hits UFA, he walks.
Which means that every month he stays with CGY before that, CGY loses value on a potential trade since UFA status will get closer, making him available to anyone.

Sorry man if I wasn't clear.

    No hard feelings man.

    Peace
