Jets say no lol I would think they want one of ur top prospects like Guhle or Mysak Ik the habs wouldnt wanna part with Slaf Caufeild or Suzuki and for the draft pick side of things a first has to be included. U gotta give up something good to get something good and Dubois is a 60 point guy and a former 3rd overall pick so ur gonna have to give up something good to get him via trade.

No cause Drouin has value (especially if healthy) where as Hoffman provides very little. The only reason the Oilers might make the trade is because they may have confidence in Bouchard to take his place in the top 4 and add a PP specialist for the same cap hit.

Two cap dumps, a bust, and a second round pick for Dubois. If you take PLD out of the trade I’m still not sure the jets take that

OS are cheaper
If they match they're F'd and will eventually have to pay to move him
If they dont we get him for at most a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd round pick

Either Way WPG is worse and MTL is happy about that.
They have no Leverage so why would we help them out?
They've never helped us out overpaying like that

You forget we actually do not have to give up anything all we have to do is wait and sign him for free. Dach has the same ceiling as Dubios but is less proven, Armia is a good middle 6 winger and Drouin when healthy is a skilled top 6 winger.

What? Do you think they would rather us wait and get nothing for him instead? Teams are not knocking on the Jets door lining up for PLD as they know he will not extend anywhere other than Montreal. This is a perfect situation for Montreal, this is a take it or leave it kind of situation. Time is not on the Jets side here, everyday that goes by is one more day closer to FA for PLD. Maybe at the 2024 deadline you might get a 1st (I doubt it though because by then his cap hit will be well over 8 mil and he will only be a rental) but that is about it.

I would not overpay for Dubois. The guy was drafted by Columbus, started whining and got traded. The guy is now playing in Winnipeg and he whines again -- and he's only 24 years old. Will he also whine because the pressure is too much to handle in Montreal?

I would only trade for him if the deal makes sense for both teams. I wouldn't trade the future for him.

The irony here is you're not even worth mentioning in the same breathe as us
Or 9/10 NHL teams for that matter as you slowly remind us why ARZ has your OG team

Just saying PLD took your leverage away
His asking for Arbitration was your last hope and he said no
Now he'll either take a 1 year deal at minimum 6.5m or sign an OS
Either way WPG loses when he's made it clear MTL's his team

Given he's walked on 2 teams before 25
What new team is excited to overpay for a guy who doesnt want to be there from day 1 ?

At Best he might get an Oreilly return
Had he shut his mouth he woulda got a Duchene return no doubt.
Sorry for you he didnt shut his mouth

The last time a player from Ste-Agathe-des-Monts was whining, he was traded to Montreal for Sergachev.

Exactly, and the Jets are also looking to stay competitive now. Dach is a Player Winnipeg fans have been interested in and since he is not signed and we need to move out cap to sign PLD, we have to include 2 cap offset players (they are not cap dumps though as teams would still pay to acquire both. No matter how little that might be). The condition on the 2nd is there in case Drouin does not play at least 50 games. Montreal is not going to trade a bunch of good assets for a player they can afford to wait on and sign in 2 years.

Campabee - as a fan of the nhl and who does not have an interest in either team here...i have an honest question so don't take it the wrong way. Has PLD or his agent said anything along the lines that he will only play for Montreal or would he consider other teams? I'm only asking because i'm assuming your in Canada and close to Montreal so maybe you have more info than we do down here in the states.

His agent has stated many times that he would like to play for Montreal and was at the draft in anticipation of a deal.

Here is the perfect story to show exactly why Montreal will not be trading anything significant

https://thehockeywriters.com/winnipeg-jets-pierre-luc-dubois-contract-negotiations-2022/

BTW, I am in Canada but not as close to Montreal as one would assume LOL. I live about an hour from Toronto and 4 hours from Montreal.

If I can butt in you're conversation lol Dubois' agent Pat Brisson said to TVA sports (french media) that PLD would like to play in Montreal. He didn't say he doesn't want to play for WIN, nor did he say PLD wouldn't mind playing for other NHL teams.

One thing to keep in mind, Agents don't make public statements like this. For him to mention Montreal specifically does hold some considerable weight. And for public comments like this to be made, also means there's some frustration on the player and agents side of things.
Dubois was present at the draft, and was expecting to be traded to MTL. His agent must of known there was something really close between the Jets and the Habs for him to even suggest his client to go....he didn't end up getting traded. Seems like the perfect "frustrating" moment, albeit one purely created by Dubois and his agent.

Here is a direct quote from Pat Brisson

"Montreal is a city he would probably … I can talk about it because he doesn't have a contract at the moment - he's a restricted free agent. Montreal is a place, a city he'd like to play in. That's all I can say about that."

and the story it came from so everyone can see I am not making up the quote.

The second needs to be a 1st and Montreal needs to add another two firsts if they want the Jets to take on two cap dumps.

There is zero chance Chevy takes less than the rental cost for PLD.

Winnipeg is rotten at the core. Big Buff just left and retired while leaving lots of money on the table. Laine, Roslovic asked out. Maurice just quit mid season. That org is cancer.

Imagine thinking PLD with all this noise is somehow worth more than Debrincat.

Cap dumps have been clearly defined as 2nd round picks with Kassian, Nemeth, Mzarek but yeah make it two 1sts from a lottery team. Ignore that guy, he's clueless

Thanks for the honest answers. I was just making sure that he or his agent didnt say he would only play for Montreal because that would obviously severely limit the return Winnipeg would get for him.

As it is with his wanting to be traded and refusing to resign he is lowering his value, albeit not as much as if he or his agent would have said only Montreal but still quite significantly.

Hoffman & a pick is not good value for COL.

Why even offer Dach? He may turn out to be as good as PLD.
