I'm sure the Habs would be open to trade Hoffman for a cheaper option on defence but their left side is full. Valimaki would just steal a spot for Harris/Guhle. The point of trading away Hoffman isnt just cap flexibility but making room on the wings. Their cap is quite fine after the Petry deal as Byron is going LTIR to start the year with Price in question

If they could flip Valimaki for a more expensive option on the right, they'd do that as well. Signing Stone would be a good option for Mtl and I'm sure they are looking at that option atm but Stone seems comfortable in Calgary with 2 turns there!

Don't be picky when getting this much cap space, Valimaki can be 7th D or waived.

I agreed. Just think they can get an expensive option on the right that could be flipped at the TDL with retention ala Yzerplan. Barrie comes to mind. Its an option but there are better options if Hughes can get creative.

And Stralman could be a good option on the RHD

That's an overpay for Tkachuk. He's worth a decent amount, but losing two top 6 forwards for 1 is an overall downgrade. Blues decline.

Wtf even is this!? 2 ppg players on cheap contracts, one with term and one who should be easier and cheaper to lock up long term... for Tkachuk who looks poised to walk his way to free agency and right back home through the gateway arch.
