Yes, some are crazy.
But what is his value now that his agent told the world PLD will go try the FA market in 2 years?

The value of a powerforward-type gritty and hard-nosed 1/2C who can get signed for 2 years and if he is happy in his new team he can sign there long term - not necessarily it being MTL. I'm not saying he should earn you McDavid but hey, that FLA's late pick and a 2/3 C isn't doing anything. Make it a valuable pick or add a promising prospect/young established player and then we have a deal. This would be a robbery,

Yes it's a bad deal for Wpg, but it's not robbery because you get something in return.
It's way worst when the player leaves in FA without telling you in advance.... Gaudreau... Tavares...

And also said that Montreal was his choice without clearly willingly to mention. So it's now a : I leave and MTL is my only choice like FOX, so the deal will fade ....

@betahuman I know that the value is not that cool, but somehow peg are in a corner and habs are wolves!

I don't think the situation is as critical as people say. In MTL I can see on center Suzuki, Dvorak and Dach. Unless MTL is planning to move one of their centers, I can't really see how you want to squeeze PLD in such position. Dvorak would go, sure, but still you have 1/2C in Suzuki, 1/2C in PLD and Dach with a potential I can't really predict. Also 2 years from now is still a long time in the NHL, many things can change. Also do you expect MTL to not draft any centers in these two upcoming off seasons? Really hard to pass on a skilled center when you picks are that high...

Critical for habs no, but for jet the tunnel narrow down the options if you don't want to get a Gaudreau.

Oh we will draft another top center between Bedard and Dvorsky (who know where our pick land with the loto) then play one of Dach or PLD on the wing ...

Slafkovsky Suzuki Caufield
PLD Bedard Anderson

or

PLD Suzuki Caufield
Slafkovsky Dvorsky Anderson

Could be a great top6!

Having too many skilled centermen is a great problem to have.
