tears of joy It seems like it's been years since we had Parayko to the Leafs trades! The unfortunate part of this is that it's pretty much in line with how they used to be-not good...not good at all.

I imagine they slowed down bc Parayko has been kinda lousy lately, by the numbers at least. Could be getting exposed because the rest of the defense has fallen off a bit and he's had to carry them on his back. Could be his bad back, literally. Either way, I still don't think the Blues can afford to move him, he's their best defensive d-man by a longshot. Maybe a week ago when Marino was on the trade block and they could've pulled an offseason switcheroo. Not sure who they'd give his minutes to if they traded him, surely not Justin Holl or Robert Bortuzzo.

Obviously, this offer is silliness, and he's not available anyway.

Ehh... from February on, Parayko was 1st among league defensemen in on-ice GA and 3rd in on-ice GF. And then he was damn good in the playoffs (aside from that one period). And his back injury is old news. Folks need to catch up. tears of joy

Easily still a top 10ish RHD, he's an absolute monster, would love to see him on the Leafs but I have no idea what we could give up to make it worth the Blues' time

I do think he looked better as the season went along, but I wouldn't take a handful of games with a 107 PDO to say that he's back to himself. I'm still fairly concerned with his decision-making at times. I don't take the stats as gospel but from February his GF% was 67% and his xGF was 49%. That big of a difference can be a red herring - not always gonna have that 15% on-ice shooting % to prop up the results.

Agree with you overall though, Parayko isn't on the table; def not without already having a major minute-munching piece in the fold.

The whole Blues team was riding that GF vs xGF all season, might just be the system cause they won games all year long

About the Blues and xG numbers and high shooting percentages and such: they play for high percentage shots. You know this. We all yell at them every night for passing up shots to try and pass the puck into the net (right up until they actually do pass it into the net, thank goodness). And to extend that point, the Blues also play to push teams wide and don't particularly mind if they shoot 30 times from the far perimeter - that adds up after a while. So decent save percentages and high shooting percentages are just how they play. It skews a lot of analytic numbers, as does the fact that an overwhelming number of their goal leaks come directly off bad giveaways, a great many of which are the fault of forwards. Long story short, the Blues are just one of those teams that basic analytics don't understand, for all sorts of reasons. We've seen this for the larger part of five straight seasons now. The one thing that does apply is: if you see the Blues actually racking up good analytics, get the hell out of the way. That means they're keeping silly mistakes to an absolute minimum, like they did from January on in the Cup year, and they will probably crush you.

That is true, and a good point. But I don't think the difference was that drastic. Blues definitely play a style that doesn't align with the public xG models. They like to hold out for the right shots and they don't mind giving up the wrong shots. Overall it lends to bad xG%, worse corsi, but it works. Also was nice to have a reliable and consistent PP to get through close games.

I'm with you, but IMO that explains a difference of a few percentage points, say 54% vs 49% (i.e. their 5v5 GF vs xGF % over the whole season), which can still make for a big swing in an analytical model. But when the difference is 67% to 48%, I think there are other factors in play.

Dallas doesn’t have cap space for Muzzin. Pretty sure most of the teams that do have cap space for Muzzin would want futures from you for taking the cap off your hands
