Can't complain about it - serviceable 3rd goalie on a buriable deal. Think they threw him extra money to avoid losing him on waivers.

I think this is a clear indication of Price. Signed him to a one way deal for a reason.

i like it. 1 mill is good considering he was technically the habs starter last season (played the most games lmao) and even if he wasnt great at it he was servicable.

Pros:
1.) His contract is 100% buriable in the AHL.
Cons:
2.) He's an AHL level goalie getting paid more than league minimum.

He was signed 2 years on a one way deal to make him less appealing for a waiver claim.

The only reason to protect him from a waiver claim is because Price might comeback, contradicting your argument.

Dude is terrible. The only reason to do this is because they are trying to tank.

5 goalies have played 30+ games in the last decade with an 0.893 or less. He's one of them.

He's a career 0.900 AHL goaltender.

They'd be better to just ride whoever they can get on the waiver wire

I think what a lot of people don't understand is that he was a complete warrior last season. He played with broken tendons in his wrist for the latter part of the year, and he was playing with a bad defense.
I'm ready to give him a second chance, because Allen was injured a lot last season and Price might not even play again.

He's French so it keeps the mobs happy. You're right, he's a fringe backup goalie, but he's a good stopgap during the rebuild. His contract is fully buried in the minors so not a big deal

Yeah. I don't think it will hurt them any if he's a warm body to put in the net. And good for him to get a few million guaranteed. But he legitimately seems worse than "replacement level" ie just rolling with the waiver wire.

The part that stands out to me is the 0.900 AHL stats. That is not inspiring.
