2 young NHL ready players with potential, 2 2nds, and taking a cap dump for a rental of Weegar. Weegar in my eyes is at worst a top 15 d man league wide and I’d even say top 10. He would be an amazing pickup for Ottawa and while Florida should under no circumstances move him, it’s sounding like they very well could

I like the Weegar deal, but would try and send only one 2nd rounder instead of 2, but for the Hamonic trade, I think the Sens want (and rightfully so) to get rid of Zaitsev more than Hamonic since his cap is higher and he is worse than Hamonic. Also, if Formenton gets traded, i doubt ottawa would sign Milano and would put Greig in instead since he seems like he is ready for the NHL

Bruins block your number. "Gryz is a very talented d man and would be great for the 2nd pair role," so why on earth would the Bruins trade him for 2 4ths?

Adding Matt Grzelcyk is WAY less important than getting rid of Zaitsev when it comes to potential D improvements. A left side of Chabot-Sanderson-Holden is already solid, trading to add an LHD seems unnecessary, especially one you can't afford to keep. I wouldn't bother trading Hamonic, keep him as a 7th D to push JBD/Thomson to earn a spot.

I don't mind the Milano signing at all. Good defensive results and some offensive play driving as well. Would be a great benchmark for Greig. Let Greig play and fight for an NHL job, but that's your bar, and if he doesn't look ready to pass Milano, you send him down. If he does, Sonny Milano is still good to have on the 4th line or in the press box for a year.

Bruins deal is a little confusing - most likely a deal they pass on pretty quickly

My logic for this is that with Forbort and Rielly having gotten 3x3 extensions last offseason and Lindholm getting the long term extension this past season, one of the LD is likely on the way out. I believe Gryz is the best d man of any of those 4 if I’m being honest, but after a disappointing playoff run I wouldn’t be shocked if they move him (also considering he makes more than Rielly and Forbort). His value is likely at a low rn, and if Boston wants to move him out I doubt they get a crazy return, especially considering how quality players have been traded for very minor returns. I do realize this was a little low on the return side, so whatever it takes added on top of this would be fair, but again I don’t think it would be a super high return if he was moved

Doing this roster it was pretty hard to work with the d men. I would have traded Zaitsev but I don’t know what the cost would be. In a world where they want to give up more assets to dump Zaitsev and give the extra spot to one of the d men that’s perfectly fine, I just didn’t bother right then as the cap space was free to keep him for rn. Also, I liked the fit to add Gryz rn if they’re trying to be a contender for next year.

I guess my response would be the B's are trying to compete so giving away the best out of the 4 is counterproductive, especially to a team in their division. Theres feeling that one of Reilly and Forbort (I lean Reilly) might be the odd man out. Gryz is also hurt to start the year so its unlikely he gets moved as well.

Fair enough. Management i am extremely willing to bet favours Lindholm over Gryz, and while he very likely has the edge over Rielly and Forbort, I still wouldn’t be shocked if he was the guy to go (the injury could potentially factor into them choosing to move them if they want to remain fully competitive). If I was Boston I will say I would definitely move Forbort over any of the others
