It could’ve been Suzuki but I doubt it was Caufield. He’s most likely untouchable for the Habs, and they would prefer not to move on from Suzuki anyways.

The Jets would do well to consider Dubois’ value not just in a vacuum, but in relation to losing him in two years for nothing. It sounds like he really wants to play in Montreal. So the Jets can get assets from Montreal for him now, or get nothing from Montreal for him later.

Holding out for an expensive asking price only makes it more likely the Jets lose him for nothing. They should keep this in mind when they’re pushing for Suzuki or Caufield as a return.

That’s not to say the Jets should accept the vast majority of Dubois trades proposed on this forum. And if someone other than Montreal is willing to offer more they should take it. This is just something for the Jets and their fans to think about.

      Sure they are.

They MIGHT be but they are not right now. Dubois and Suzuki are very close...they main edge Suzuki has is he is signed.

Caulfield oozes potential but he it tiny and streaky and a winger < Dubois.

I am fine if Montreal wont trade either for Dubois. Makes sense. They are wanting to ADD to their talented young core. I am sure they wont trade Slafkovsky either. After that though, no assets should be off the table. Remember, Montreal is actively trying to trade for him. That increases his value. Something Habs fans should think about.

Suzuki is better already and it's not even close, and caufield isn't streaky, he was bad under duchareme and played well under MSL, no one in his right mind will trade Suzuki for PLD or caufield for PLD one for one, specially not a rebuilding team who isn't in a win now mode

Show me ANY data (other than being signed long term) that proves that Suzuki is vastly better than Dubois.

The Jets will not lose Dubois for nothing. If not this deadline he can be traded at next year's deadline for a 1st and a top prospect, minimum. Market shows that time and time again.
