Is it time to start sending Nyquist or Bean to either Toronto or Edmonton for the constant Kerfoot, Foegele, Barrie, Kassian trades?
We need to keep doing that, and even when they tell us “no,” jsut keep doing it more and telling them they are wrong and don’t know what’s best for their teams.
But yeah, all told
@benjgc , this about nails where we are at. Nyquist or Jake are packaged and moved, and considering it is a buyer’s market for cap dumps (Nyquist and Jake are both legit contributors, but frankly they are what they are - players being moved to get rid of cap), our return (if any) is depressed.
I agree with
@Ajp_18 - I feel we can get value for them, but if push comes to shove and we make a “future considerations” move with Gus or Jake, I won’t be too upset. Gus was a FA signing, and Jake was had in the Cam 1-for-1 trade, so the only thing we are losing/gaining, so to speak, is money (I.e we aren’t looking at that trade and saying “wow we gave up X pick or Y prospect for nothing!”).
Then again, I am now pushing for a trade with ANA a la what
@jphaxx and I put together
here.
The only fear I have is that I have heard one too many moves suggesting we ship Bjorkstrand out. I am wholly against this. his team-friendly deal is the exact type of middle-class signing that competing teams need - a $4M-$6M guy over-performing on a contract with term. I know moving him would bring back real value, but if we’ve made our play for JG, I’m more inclined to take one-in-the-hand and use the value we get out of him instead of rolling for picks and prospects, even if they could end up being trade assets themselves. I’d rather give up Gus or Jake for nothing than trade Bjorky right now.
