Absolutely not. Columbus needs to clear cap space to keep Laine, and Peeke is cheap and reliable. He’s close to untouchable, given our current circumstances. Sandin is excellent, and I’d normally be eager to add him. But he’s not a fit for how we need to proceed right now.

Honestly depends on what he expects for his next deal. In a vacuum I would accept this if I were Columbus. I think we would have to add a mid-round pick as well though.

I love the idea of pairing Sandin and Boqvist on the second pair and Gavrikov and Gudbranson as a shut-down third pair. Peeke would fit well with Toronto as well with his playstyle and handedness. Could easily grow into a really good 2nd pair two-way guy for them.

Great trade idea.

It has been rumored that Sandin is only holding out because there is no space on the left side for him. If he goes to a team that has a spot open for him then he would sign a deal similar to Liljegren which is 1.4M x 2. So Columbus would really only be taking on 600k in cap.

That’s $600K more we would have to clear out. Now, if by some miracle Jarmo can move Nyquist and Bean to another team without paying through the nose to dump that cap, MAYBE this works. But barring that, and barring Dubas being into this idea, I just don’t see it being viable. Too many ifs.

Value wise I'd take that in a second. I don't know that the Jackets could afford the trade though until we see what Jarmo's solution to the Laine situation is.

I mean I feel like Laine is only really going to get 9 mil max. Even if that happens all CLB has to do is trade Nyquist which is 100% doable without giving up a arm and a leg. Think about it Pacioretty, McDonaugh, Dadonov, Fleury, Schmidt all went for basically nothing. And Dadonov had 10 less points than Nyquist.

We'll have to wait and see. Last report on the situation was that they had agreed on 5-6 years. but were still $1.5 mil apart on AAV. That could be anywhere from Jarmo is offering $7.5 and Laine wants $9 to Jarmo is offering $9 and Laine wants $10.5. Obviously if it's the later then the cap is gonna get tight in a hurry even with trading Nyquist.

Value-wise, sure; but, CBJ have Gavrikov on the middle-pair. They’ve made clear they love him and see him on the team for the future; so, unless they are already getting signs Gavvy wants to move on after this season, I don’t see them trading for more LD.

I think there's far too many variables to be certain about this one, but if the stars do align I do like it. I just don't expect them to align.

This is why I refuse to use Twitter often because these so called analysts constantly shove the leafs down our throats when we least want it and it triggers me

Do you understand how that's most of the problem? The Leafs are a franchise with a massive fan base which is why they have such a huge media following. What fuels it to ridiculous levels though is the even bigger number of people who hate the Leafs more than they like hockey. In a climate like that, those who hate hearing about the Leafs chime in constantly to say how bad the team is because they hate them. So the media spins everything to get the haters and fans all fired up. The more controversy they create the angrier the people get, the more clicks they get and the cycle continues.

Maybe if leafs fans weren’t annoying and arrogant they’re pain would be a lot more relatable but social media just had to exist so now we have to here about them as cup favourites non stop and it’s getting about as stale as Kyle Dubas’ tenure as GM
