I would've loved to see Sandin for Barbashev before the Blues chose Leddy over Perron; at this point there are 8 NHL d-men on the roster so they would have to do some serious maneuvering.

Overpaying for Gudbranson and all good on RD is about as ridiculous a statement one can make. If pylon 3rd pair RD fetch 4+ million, who wouldn't want Holl? He's absolutely better than Gudbranson and costs less than half the salary.

No one on the planet even sees Schenn as anything more than a 7/8 defenceman....except for Canucks fans who see him as an awesome top pair RD. It's incredible

Sorry didn’t know holl was a solid top 4 option. This is an illogical conversation. We have 4 right shot defenseman right now. Peeke boqvist gudbranson and blankenburg. Where does holl fit. Plus we have no money now. So your argument is mute. I already stated we overpaid for Erik, why should we move for another 3rd pair defenseman.
Maybe before we signed him holl there was a fit. Now, absolutely Zero fit and zero money.

There's no place for Holl and his $2 mil in Columbus. They need cap space for Laine as it is.

Cool, so trade him somewhere that didn't just sign Gudbranson. Columbus is not the fit for Holl. We don't disagree the Gudbranson signing is awful, but it is what it is.

Holl would slot ahead of everyone that isn't ahead of Gudbranson

There’s a thing called age and roles thay players have. Boqvist is a young offensive defenseman, peeke is a young defensive defenseman and gudbranson is our physical presence on the back end. They all need ice time. No room for a 7th defenseman in holl. But tell me again what my team needs. It’s very insightful. If you were a genie and asked me to pick between holl and 2x2 and gud at 4x4 I’d call you silly and take holl. However we already have gud and are stuck with him. So let’s both quit wasting our time on this venture. It’s not gonna happen.

I don't think that's a wise plan

it still doesn't change the fact that Holl doesn't fit. Boqvist just signed his extension last week, so he's playing. Gudbranson just signed yesterday and seemingly is one of the reasons Gaudreau signed in Columbus, so he's *definitely* playing. And that leaves RD3 for Andrew Peeke, who's 6 years younger than Holl and making only $788K as opposed to Holl's $2M - so regardless of who you think the better player is, CBJ is going to defer to the cheaper, younger option for the 15 minutes a night or so they need him.

You know what, that's all totally understandable. In this scenario. I am getting overly annoyed by the Holl is a cap dump nonsense belief on here. He's a good player on a great contract. The fit doesn't work here I guess, which is fine, I just am so tired of people talking like Holl sucks. He would improve your team but if this is what the GM wants then they wouldn't be looking at Holl but I absolutely know many teams will be looking for RD depth. I personally would be very happy if they keep Holl because you aren't getting a better #7 defenceman making 2 million right now.
