Description
For teams taking cap dumps but minimizing real cash spent Voracek is the cheapest option between him and Gus. Gus gets paid 5 mil for this year (no signing bonus paid) Voracek only gets paid 1.25 mil this year (5 mil signing bonus already paid) then 7.5 next year. We would most likely still need to add to ship Voracek out but I think it gives us more room to make more moves if we need to and to extend gavi past this season.

Now, maybe Jarmo has a new direction for this team now that the curveball of the best FA to hit the market since Panarin wanted to sign with us? Could he trade for a 1C? We have the prospects to get a trade done... maybe Hintz? Lindholm? I know it would take a ton to get either of these guys but Calgary may blow it up soon?

From a Ducks perspective, I don't know...I feel like doing that huge of a favour for the Jackets has got to cost more. Voracek had a very nice season, but he also doesn't fit the timeline, so there's gotta be a guaranteed future player in there, which I don't think this is. Svozil isn't a bad prospect, but if the option was 1 year of Patches gets you Coghlan, vs. 2 years of Voracek gets you this, I would have taken option A 10 times out of 10.

Yeah I don't know if every GM hates Vegas so doing anything for them is frowned upon or if that even matters. But, taking cap dumps doesn't really matter when your window is, it's just taking assets to help a future window open up. Could probs add a forward prospect as well I guess to help sweeten the deal. Feel like cap dumps are the hardest things to price. Petr Mrázek (3.8 mil) cost Toronto going down 13 spots in the draft while vegas dumping decent players (Patches and Dadonov) costs basically nothing, which Voracek is a decent player and mentor.

Personally I don't think we go Hintz. He's Roslovic surrounded by better teammates. He needed Robertson and Pavelski or he was just a zone entry, chance and out type player.

Lindholm would be a perfect fit and worth giving up quite a lot for. Not sure we really have what those teams want though.

I think they keep Svozil around. He and Jiricek are very good buddies and the prospect of the both of them being on the blue line in the future is enticing.

Hintz is a good player, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't fit stylistically between Laine/Gaudreau.

I'm not the only person who thinks he had to be complemented by Robertson and Pavelski.

I disagree. Hintz's biggest strength is his adaptability. He can be a playmaker, he has a shot, he has insane speed and he has two way ability.

You can put him to basically any role and he's good at it.

Yes playing with star players obviously help but it's false narrative to consider that those wingers carry him. They all compliment each other with their strengths.

I don't see anything that suggests Hintz has two-way ability, I also didn't suggest that those wingers carried him. You also just described Roslovic, who has comparable entry numbers with better zone exits than Hintz, and an excellent shot and insane skating. Roslovic has high quality playmaking but doesn't have the volume and doesn't play with teammates who create as well around him as Pavelski and Robertson. Hintz played in a much better situation than Jack did and also looks a lot better.

My point still remains, CBJ don't have the players to complement Hintz and they have a similar player on their roster for free.

That’s what suggest that Hintz has good two way abilities.

Fair enough. I'm not entirely convinced that he's not a large product of Pavelski in the defensive end but he's clearly minimum holding his own.

He plays on the PK while Pavelski does not, he’s the centre of the line while Pavelski is not. He’s far from a product of him in the defensive zone.

Edit: Hintz was actually higher than Pavelski in Selke voting this year

Yep. At this point Hintz is basically Cirelli with a better offense.

That's a clear stretch. Cirelli has been top 5 Selke voting a few times. Pavelski finished highly just a year ago and has significantly better EVD WAR numbers.
