I think we can assume miller is going somewhere after that ridonculous mikheyev contract (Love soup but 4 x $4.75M grimace) but I can’t see the leaf’s trading lilligren for one year rental & we would have zero chance of signing him long term

Kerfoot and Robertson? Are you crazy? Kerfoot is a third line rental, Robertson doesn’t even make our roster

And Vancouver would want 2 rentals for what reason exactly? You forgot the part that Miller outscored the entire Leafs roster except for Matthews. Would you accept Nylander for Pearson, Poolman, and a late first? Don’t think so

Ya no that doesn't get you a 99 point player for 3 million. Not even close. Embarrassing offer honestly.

Ya that doesn't get it done. Not even close. Holl is of no interest. Robertson is of very little. And Kerfoot is ok but more to balance the cap in acquiring young player and pick. I appreciate he is a decent player though.

There's no trade to be had with Toronto. They don't want to give up Liljegren.

kinda need to go for a little though don't you. The windows to compete are shorter than ever. Replace Liljegren with Niemela. Sandin also improving.

Niemela doesn't do it for Vancouver though, that's the problem.

Liljegren would be the key piece, but the Leafs aren't going to rip open up a hole on the back end just to patch a part up front. The issue the Leafs' have is Matthews, Marner, and Tavares not producing in post-season, while Miller would be a great post season performer for them, I can't see Miller making up all three's lack of offense.

I mean Niemela is a high end RD prospect coming who can replace Liljegren. Also you are getting Schenn in this deal who is actually surprisingly good and a tough playoff style guy.

Taking pressure of Mathews, Tavares, Marner can only help them perform.

If I'm the Leafs I'd seriously consider this move. And I think Van fans would for the most part not be thrilled with it for the record.

Actually, I'm a Canucks fan, I've just been listening to what Leaf fans have been saying about potential Miller trades to their team.

It's just an unwillingness to part with Liljegren Leafs won't consider it if Liljegren is involved, Canucks won't consider it if Liljegren isn't. So, there's no trade to be had. Doesn't matter, with the way Free Agency is shaping out, the Devils, Flyers, Islanders, and Predators could all be circling back.

Leafs fans are insane on here. They want to offer Holl and Kerfoot. These guys are literally players they would gladly just lose of their cap. What is Liljegrens potential even? 3rd dman?

Not all Leafs fans are offering that lol.

Liljegren does not have a 3rd dman potential lol, you're certainly undervaluing other teams' prospects if thats the case.

I get that and not all are say Liljegren is untouchable. For the record Canucks fan are also a bit crazy on here. We won't get what most think for Miller, despite him being an incredible player.

I mean I think it's fairly safe to say he's never going to be a no.1 so you are saying you think he could be a no. 2? I would say impossible but I'd lean toward his ceiling being a 3. Which is a great player. it's like a stud 2nd line fwd.

What would you say is Rathbone's ceiling?

Liljegren isn't untouchable, just not an asset they'd move in this instance.

Rathbone I really like. He has a low floor high ceiling. It's really hard to say because we haven't seen enough of him but 3-4 I think we'd have to be happy with. He's gonna have to really show us improvement this yr though.

Thats the case I'm making, it would be worth trading Liljegren even if they only kept Miller for a yr. He is that good and would put them into the top contenders category. Risky to some degree I'll grant but they do have a decent pipeline of prospects to fall back on.

I've seen both of them play live, Liljegren is a much better defenseman than Rathbone overall. If you think Rathbone's ceiling is Top-4 pair, Liljegren's has to be Top-2 pair. Liljegren is projected to be a #2 defenseman by hockey minds. Even as a Canucks fan, I have to respect the skill level of Liljegren, you should too.

End of the season and vs. Tampa Liljegren was playing 20 mins/night. He'll see more playing time next season. It's not really a subject for debate, I've seen it reiterated by the majority of Leaf fans here and on other sites: they aren't trading Liljegren unless it's part of an upgrade to an even better RHD. That's okay, there are other teams the Canucks move Miller to.

Probably best to move Miller somewhere else, there is no point in the Leafs not getting better while acquiring a UFA they can't afford to extend

Ok I'm not totally opposed to the idea he could be a 2 but I'd call it a stretch. 3 seems like a more realistic expectation. Realistic expectation for Rathbone would be depth defenseman and 2nd unit pp basically.

Debate is still on my friend. They could win a cup with Miller.

There's nothing to debate, you're just going to repeat that Leaf fans should want to trade Liljegren for Miller, and they're going to keep telling you no. You're just calling into the void at this point.

I've already laid out my case though. I'm not convinced of your logic. Spending too much time on here will taint expectations too. Guarantee less than if you offered real NHL trades on this board before they happened fans of each team would call on you to delete it, and "you don't watch (insert team)".

Your case doesn't change Leaf fans' minds. You've been told multiple times by different people that no Liljegren trade will work. I don't know why you're so fixated on this.

Marino is a better defenseman than Liljegren, and Severson is a better defenseman than Liljegren, I'd rather the Canucks go after one of them anyway.
