Erik Gustafsson has signed a new contract with the Washington Capitals.

Nothing contract, decent 7th D who can pop the offense if you need it.

Haven't watched him much since he was with Montreal, but he wasn't very good. No idea how he's still in the NHL.

On June 18th, it was reported that he underwent surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to be miss 4-5 months. He'll probably need some time with Hershey (for conditioning) until he's able to challenge Gustafsson, Irwin and Johansen for that place on the third pairing.

Yes you're right, I do remember that now. Lot of bad news this off season for the Caps. Good grief. Wilson ACL tear, Backstrom hip resurface, Alex shoulder surgery.
