Not as bad as Gudbrandson... could be worse than Leddy...but I will give this the 3rd worst contract.

I dont see how this turns out good for Detroit. Will be a tough contract to move when it goes sour.

I hate this deal, but honestly, with how much the rest of the league seems to covet Chiarot it shouldn't be all too tough to get out of when the time comes. Still, this is probably the worst contract signing of the Yzerman era so far.

I still don't love this deal, but after having a couple days to marinate on it, I can live with it. Seider had to carry his pairing all last year with Leddy (who looked terrible in Detroit) or DDK (who looked like he was completely cooked) and still won the Calder. Is Chiarot great? No, but he's NHL level defenseman who can eat minutes and is an upgrade over what Detroit had on a depleted left side. I just wish the deal was a year shorter.

I don’t like this signing at all for Detroit. Chiarot played alright in 74 games split between the Canadiens (54) and the Panthers (20) Chiarot had 7 goals 11 assists with the Canadiens and 2 goals and 6 assists for in total 26 points. Chiarot was born early May 1991 and was drafted in 2009 by Atlanta now Winnipeg. Chiarot is 31 years of age. Chiarot will probably play on the top pair of defensemen with Sieder or Hronek this upcoming season. Chiarot can play 70-80 games and can give you around 20-25-30 points but for $4,750,000? Not worth it. Kubalik had almost the same amount of points as Chiarot and Chiarot got paid double the amount that Kubalik did. Chiarot isn’t a bad player but that much money. Almost $5,000,000. This is worst than the Gudbranson signing. Awful for Detroit.
