If that was the contract Laine wanted, he would've been signed yesterday.

CBJ and Laine are in agreement on a 5-6 year deal. The hang-up is AAV.

Here's hoping the Forsberg contract can set some sort of base-line here.

We've been over this with plenty of Canes fans. We want Jarvis or better. Carolina is absolutely not going to do that. Therefore DOA. That hasn't changed.

On the off chance Columbus does trade Laine, and to Carolina, pieces like Scott Morrow, Seth Jarvis, or Drury would have to be involved.

I see this site still hasnt changed.

People talking like they are the actual GM and knowing what the exact values are tears of joy

Every time I see someone on here saying "its at least this" or "not enough value", the trade is always very underwhelming and not what they were expecting lol

Intra-division trades cost more, my dude. If Carolina were in the west, this would be a different conversation. But we're both in the Metro, so therefore the cost is higher in order to maintain the fact Columbus is the only team in the NHL he's never scored against.

Laugh all you like. When it comes to star players and trades, Kekalainen is unbeaten. If anything, we've frequently underestimated what he gets.

Works both ways.

Every time I see an ACGM author trade negging fans by saying “it’s definitely not this” or “we’re giving you enough value,” the trade ends up being Seth Jones for a treasure chest, or Laine + Rosy for two years of PLD before he bolts for MTL.

This isn’t two months of Laine at the TDL before he hits UFA. You’re getting him for five years on a team friendly deal. Plus, these trades aren’t done in a vacuum - if **** hits the fan and Laine is available, CAR isn’t the only team calling. Hell, from what I’ve seen on this board, you’re like one of three teams in our own division who will be asking.

Or David Savard for a 3rd and a 1st! Or Nick Foligno for a 4th and a 1st! Lot of folks saying Jarmo would be lucky to get a 3rd for either of those guys. Meanwhile, that Foligno 1st turned into Corson Ceulemans, and the Savard 1st was part of the package for Jones. Oh, and the 3rd-rounder in 2022 turned into a well-received pick for Jordan Dumais. (The 4th being subsequently traded for Mathieu Olivier is less pleasing.)

Never forget the most classic among classics - “No, CBJ definitely want Kerfoot on their team.”
