Ok then there is no way Kane waives for Detroit. If Kane is going to play for a non playoff team it will be Chicago.

Although at this point Detroit will probably be competitive faster than the Hawks.

Also a more realistic Toews trade than some I've seen.

You are probably right but Kane is 33 and will be 34 shortly after the season starts. Since Detroit isn't a playoff team this year Kane will be 35 before Detroit makes the playoffs and that's just making the playoffs. So I'm not sure Detroit becoming competitive sooner than Chicago even matters.
