Spoiler alert, it seems to make the case that Allen will fetch less in return than what the esteemed DucharmetheDOMinator believes, but more than what the honourable BeterChiarelli suggests.

Also, it's likely a very bad idea to be looking at MM as your starter for the next season. Looking at you Kyle Dubas.

Matt Murray to me makes no sense as the guy hasnt cracked 30 games in 2 years and the injury issues are pretty serious

If he does come its probs with a very good sweetener but still hes like the Muzzin of Goalies. One more concussion could end his career and yes there probs is another goalie like Reimer, Hill, Allen, backing him up but then your kind of back to square one

They can make trades now, but I think teams want to see what they can get in free agency without giving up assets first (and likewise, the sellers will be able to charge more to the desperate teams that lose out in free agency).

Ottawa’s master plan is to improve significantly up front (check), improve on the backend (dumping Zaitsev would immediately improve the team, adding literally anyone to replace him is better, hopefully this happens this week), and then create a playoff spot for themselves by trading Murray to a divisional rival so he can tank their season. Dorion really is the smartest man in the league.

You do realize if MM came it would be with retention right and then Toronto would go after a 2-3mill tandem backup (Reimer, Holtby, Allen, etc.)

As nobody it taking on that entire contract without a sweetener and retention unless they need to reach the cap floor like Arizona, Anaheim, etc.

It’s Kyle’s job on the line, if this is what he wants to roll out that’s on him. I feel like IF a trade goes through their will be a 3rd team retaining salary on Murray and the Leafs still go out and get another new goalie.

I will be fukcin shocked and pretty pissed if they go into next season with Murray and one of Kallgren/Wall.

It still baffles me they set a franchise record of wins and points while getting sub .900 goaltending from January on. Can’t see that happening again

Thats what I was thinking

If a 3rd team like Arizona or Anaheim come into play Murray at 1.5625M makes sense as then you can bring Jack Campbell back at 5mill and have the SOO 2013 tandem

As lets be real nobody taking on that entire contract unless they need to reach the floor. Buffalo made sense but he rejected them and I got a feeling Arizona and Anaheim are on his M-NTC

And if Toronto can get a Jack/Murray tandem in which Jack plays around 44 games and Murray 38 with a possibility of Kallgren playing 4-5 should someone get hurt

Also Colorado broke the mold with goalies in the playoffs so maybe we see another team try it to

GSAx per 100 shots as a means to normalize the playing field essentially creates save percentage. More here. Something I suspect to do with how the math accidentally cancels itself out, as GSAx already takes shot data into consideration.

How does putting a rate on GSAx turn into SV%?
And is GSAA a different metric from GSAx or are they the same thing?

He either rebounds and shows NYR were the cause of his issues

Or he stays the same and that deal looks terrible and gets Sakic fired or is on the hot seat

As idk going from Kuemper/Francouz to Francouz/Georgiev is a pretty big gamble and if it costs Colorado a chance at a b2b thats not good

We’ll see, not a fan of what the Avs paid to get him and that contract but if Georgiev can prove to be a 1B, that’s amazing for the Avs

Sakic just won the cup. A 3 year contract worth barely 3mil isn’t gonna even get him in the hot seat unless the Avs miss the playoffs, but the Leafs showed that a good team doesn’t need great goaltending to succeed in the regular season (and the Avs in the playoffs did too).

Like his boldness to gamble though as man if they get the same point totals as last year with lesser goaltending gotta give em props

Especially if Colorado achieves the same point totals
