Description
Pageau can be subbed out for any other team on his modified NTC. He has positive value.

And I know Nischushkin was rumored to be close on a deal with the Avs but I just cant see it. They wont be able to give him market value so why wouldnt he capitalize on a career year?

I thought of teams who may be looking for a center. Pageau seems like someone who is only under contract for a few more years and will be off the books once they have to pay their big guys a lot of money. he is great on special teams and faceoffs and someone that Stevie Y may want to raise the youth around. We saw this when he paid a 2nd for Leddy last year. Pageau has to be worth a bit more

Détails additionnels:
only option at this point with them saying that Bailey is not getting shopped. I refuse to move Beau and with Raty coming up, he is the only option. Also, I would rather have a free agent play 4C, Cizikas plays 3C for half the year and then we call up Raty halfway through the year so he has North American experience and does not get thrown into a top 6 role right away.

Adding on to the last trade, Pageau can really help out Kasper in a year or two and help protect him by being a veteran playing ahead of him. Same with Veleno now if they keep him. ignore the 7th round pick here

I don't see Nuke replicating what he did last season, moving away from the Avs and into a defensive system like the Islanders.

I think Kurz is a good reporter, but it's Lou so at the end of the day, nobody knows anything. Maybe he's right, but I went back to listen to Lou's presser after standing pat at the deadline. These two things stood out to me:

1) Romanov fits the bill for what he said he would do on defense

2) Coupled with the Miller trade that never was, he is not satisfied with the forward group. More is coming. And maybe that's a hockey trade + average UFA replacement. But if Gaudreau becomes realistic than everything is out the window

Wings pass, we have 500 3Cs already. This is just taking on salary for no reason at this point

Wings paid a 2nd for Leddy because they knew they could recoup that pick at the deadline. Pageau has been declining hard and has 4 more years left. Not a chance in hell Detroit is paying a 2nd+ for him

I can't see Detroit doing this JPG doesn't up grade our top 6 and the reason Detroit gave a 2nd for Leddy was he was in the final year of his contract and was flipped for a 2nd and 2 players.

Even if it’s not Gaudreau I think there are still some free agents out there who make us better. Revisit Miller? Would Giroux come back to the metro? Burakovsky would bring some speed/scoring. Mikheyev is interesting. Etc

Lou’s exact quote from the presser after the deadline (he was asked what areas of the team need improvement. He touched on Defense and added the exact type of player he inferred)

"Over the next period of time we'll find out about our scorers. That's where we certainly underproduced this year to this point. In fact I would said disappointed what has transpired there. We'll see where our forwards are at from now until the end of the year"

Not a ringing endorsement. The forwards did nothing after the deadline. Can't believe he liked what he saw or changed his mind

to me the only forward who is a gamechanger in FA is Gaudreau. Burakovsky an Mikheyev are good, but not gamechanging. Cant see Giroux or Kadri coming to the Islanders so its only Gaudreau. I would love him tho
