If he was willing to sign this contract with Carolina, they should have kept him. I thought he would want more money and/or term. With the numbers he put up last season, he probably could have got a lot more in arbitration. I thought Carolina was afraid of that and that’s why they got rid of him.

Whether he’s going to be a good fit in Philadelphia is a valid question, but he was a good fit in Carolina and probably would have been a bargain at $5M for the next two years. It’s going to be costly to replace him.

What makes things worse for them is now they got no cap space and need to extend/sign 5 guys including Tippett

Basically they either need to dump or buyout JVR, or trade guys out to create cap space

not a TDA fan by any means but this isn't 100% his fault. the flyers are 32nd in goals per game and he's currently the highest scoring D-man on the team, leads all defensemen in corsi relative per 60 (who have played over 20 games), and leads all players on aTOI. it's fletcher. we ALL knew that putting TDA and torts together in the same locker room would lead to a volcanic eruption.
