Oilers decline a trade at this point would require money going out, zero cap space, what we have in cap space will be used on resigning the players we have and signing a goalie

No way Pens trade McGinn.

Too much for E-Rod. He’ll probably walk. He can probably get more outside of Pittsburgh.

That’s too much for Miller. Kappy, Marino, a 1st and 2nd. Way too much. DeBrincat didn’t get two 25 year old NHL players. One signed long term and one a RFA.

Geno signs for 7.5M plus. Sid is making 8.7M. No way Geno takes less than 7.5M. I’m saying 8M. That still leaves enough to sign Rakell for 3.5-4M per. And Kappy and Heinen around 1.8M-2.25M per.

I can’t see major moves like this happening. Maybe one of Dumoulin or Pettersson gets traded. Maybe Zucker. Other than that. You’re gonna see a similar team to last seasons.

Sid isn't making $8.7 million. That is his cap hit from the 12-year contract he signed in 2013-14. His base salary for the final three years of that contract is $3 million/year. Now, Letang's base salary for his new six-year deal will be $8 million for the first two years, $6.2 million for year three, and $4.8 million for the last three years. Letang will be making $1.8 million more/year when he is 40 and 41 than Crosby is now. Sure, Letang probably could have gotten more if he went free agent, but it appears he has some class and loyalty to Penguins fans. Look at Malkin's last two seasons compared to Crosby. Malkin played in 74 games and put up 70 points; not even a point per game. Crosby played in 124 games and scored 146 points. Malkin's game is failing and you want to pay him 7.5 Million? He would be lucky to get $6 million/year on a three-year deal. If he wants more, let him walk, and be some other team’s problem.

As a Vancouver fan I would be happy with that return for Miller.

Why is there no way Mcginn gets traded? It something that basically needs to happen at this point.

That's definitely not too much for lol - if anything it's a slight underpayment.

You can't say no way Geno signs for under 7.5 when we just watched Letang sign for 6.1

Lol..sure. They trade McGinn. I bet they don’t.

Marino, Kappy, A 1st and a 2nd. Way too much for Miller.

Rakell just signed or 5M for 6 years. 30M total.

They just gave Kappy his QO; 840K. He won’t get more than 2.25M even if he goes to an Arb hearing. I would say 1.75M-2M per.

No QO for Heinen. He’s a UFA. If they resign him it will under 2M for sure.

E-Rod walks. He had a hot 2 weeks; was bad the rest of the year. 2.3M per is crazy. I really hope he doenst get that in Pittsburgh. I think a team will pay him 2M-3.5M per though. I just hope it’s not here. Too much.

Geno is testing the free agent market now. They tried 6M for 4 years. He said no.

Him and Sid have shared the reins like 2 superstars barely ever have. As well as we ever seen, in any sport. That doenst mean he signs for 2.7M less than Sid. No chance. That would be a sign of disrespect. I can’t see him signing for anything less than 7M per or he’ll walk. And he’ll get that elsewhere. I would say they settle and he gets 7.2M for 3 years.

Of course. 2 NHL players that are both 25 years old. One signed long term and one a RFA still. Plus a 1st round pick and a 2nd. That’s a haul.

Well see what happens I guess, I completely disagree on your take on the miller trade. a 99 point scorer doesn't come cheap

Geno took the 4 years at 6.1 AAV. U were right. I can’t believe he’s making 2.5M less than Sid.

Pens got a steal. Even at 4 years. He’s still a top 15 Center in the NHL when heathy. He’s still a bully. And that’s gonna be an easy contract to trade if they ever need too. Retain 2M and let a contender get Geno for 4.1M..lol.

Same with Letang, people/fans think that term is bad..lol. It’s such an easy contract to trade with that AAV. Again, retain just 2M and you’re probably gonna get a haul. Atleast a late 1st.

Let alone if they retain 50% and a contender can get Letang or Geno at 3M per.

They still have 4.2M to sign Kappy and Henien. I can see why they didn’t tender a QO to Henien too. You don’t want to get stuck In an arb hearing with someone who scored 18 goals.

Kappy on the other hand; 11 goals and 32 points in 79 games. You know it’s not gonna be a fight even at an arb hearing.

Teams just don’t make a bunch of major moves like these. They retain their players and maybe make one trade in the offseason. Maybe one trade at the deadline. Very rarely do teams make a bunch of major trades unless they are rebuilding.

And the info is out there. There isn’t a peep about trading McGinn. They just signed him to a long term deal last season. If they were shopping him, the info would be out there.

All that is out there is that the Pens might be interested in moving a D. Shopping McGinn hasn’t been reported by any insiders or Pens beat reporters.

The Marino for Boeser ship has sailed. And Miller is a rental. A UFA at years end. Maybe if Vancouver retains some salary they get that return. But Hextall/Burke have said numerous times that they are done trading high draft picks.
