Dach reportedly available. Wild could really use a young center, especially a big, right shot, playmaking center. Addison should have a decent NHL career, but I don't think Dean trusts him enough to get the minutes he needs to develop properly.

Would say no but it seems like Davidson is eating glue today so he probably accepts.

Well to be fair he has only played 18 NHL games. I think there's still decent potential there, probably tops out as a 2nd pairing defenseman who QB's your PP1

This is the type of Dach deal I’d be good with. Seeing some clown takes on twitter about sending out 19th+. Even saw someone suggest both our 1sts.

Happy to see something more level headed

I'd think Addison and Van 2nd is fair for Dach.

TBF. Sending one of the firsts, either the 19th or 24th, plus a prospect like Beckman or Hunt would make a lot of sense for a guy like Dach.

I'd much rather give up Addison. It doesn't seem like Dean trusts Addison enough to develop him properly but he should still have decent value.

I'd be good with sending a 1st and a prospect for Dach, probably not a 1st and Addison. Your value of 1st with Beckman or Hunt is probably fair imo

Trading Addison before he's 24 and had time to develop his defensive game down in the AHL for the next couple of years is stupid.

If Guerin feels Addison or Faber can't hack it by the time Dumba's contract is up next offseason. You maybe considering moving on from Addison at 23 years old. But as it stands he's only 22 and they want him to develop his defensive game more and play more like Spurgeon than Dumba.

Moving him now is reckless. There's no reason to rush the kid or ship him off when other assests will suffice to get a player like Dach.

Everything you just said could also be said about Dach. That's why I think it's a pretty fair deal. We have Spurgeon signed for 5 more years and everybody seems to think Faber should be NHL ready next season with his potential topping out as a 2nd pairing guy. There's only 2 spots for your top 4 RD, Addison seems to be the odd man out. RD is not as big of a need as center, especially when that center is a towering 6'4" right shot playmaking center, basically the exact type of player everyone wants in their system.

Maybe. I understand his upside, but I’m not convinced. He’s been given ample opportunities with exceptional players and hasn’t shown much.

Doesn’t drive play particularly well, can’t finish/produce, underwhelming defensively, awful on draws. I question whether or not he can even hack in at center in the NHL.

He’s skilled, he’s big and his ceiling is high. So yes we should be investigating. But I’d have to go back and watch some of his games before I’d be comfortable shelling out 19+ for him.

His wrist was destroyed last season, I think that's why he played so poorly (and also why he's available).

Did he re-injury it or are you referring to his WJC break?

Y'know what, it was 2021. Time flies. I'm pretty sure he reinjured it again after surgery looking at his TSN bio though. Last season he dealt with a shoulder injury

Spurgeon switches to a 10-team M-NTC in the 2024 offseason and will be 35 at the time that happens. The Wild aren't locked into playing him the full five remaining years. They could conceivably move him after the next two.

There is definitely an opportunity for Addison to take a top 4 spot after that point. Dealing Addison prematurely could backfire on us. It's more prudent to use other assets to acquire Dach.

I'm all for going after Dach, but I'm opposed to using Addison to do it.

Yeah I guess it just depends on risk tolerance and what you believe his legitimate trajectory is.

We’ve seen how devastating the post-pec injury has been for Dumba. But on the other hand, Fiala had a brutal femur break early in his career and we all know how his story has gone.

21 is way too young to write off a player, and I’m not trying to do that with Dach.

I just want to make sure we’re paying for what Dach actually will be, not what he was expected to be at the time of his draft.
