Chicago selects Brad Lambert - A risky pick and a player who has the chance to go higher than this, but I think he falls somewhere into the 20s based on the risk. Hawks have a thin prospect pool and need to hunt upside here, which they do with lambert

Hawks turn down offers of multiple firsts just to crack at the last second and trade cat for a single pick? Good way to turn the 3-4 year rebuild into a 5-6 year rebuild

Was thinking of this trade the other day

Mrazek + 2023 3rd + Roni Hirovinen for Borgstrom

Its not bad as Hirovinen is better than the typical Abruzzese whose offered

I would be very disappointed if this were to occur. We can't trade an established multiple 40 goal player that's 24 for ANY single prospect because you're trading away a known commodity for the hopes of getting the same thing back. No one expects Wright/Saf/Cooley to be Matthews/McDavid. They could potentially be a #1C in the NHL, but we could also be trading for RNH or Nico Hirschier or Nail Yakupov too. That would be worth firing KD right off the bat.

The Hawks need a 5-6 year rebuild. If the “Erie Otter Line” doesn’t become a thing this team is realllllllly going to need a 5-6 year rebuild. Hawks need to be bad. This helps that out.

Add Ty smith/ Nolan foote/ zacha whatever surrounding pieces to make it look better to the eye. I don't think NJ is parting with Holtz+2nd Oa nor is any team parting with a package that big. If Kd is really sticking to his guns that he wants that much, i would be very happy to keep cat. Just exploring the option of a Wright for Cat trade, because I do think it is interesting. If this was the exact trade but to MTL for 1st overall I think people would already be more open to it. I get that we should get multiple pieces not just one, but part of the concern here is just optics imo

I can understand Holtz may not be part of the deal. But I don't see any reason the 2023 1st with top 10 protection is out of the question. If they can't be a top 20 team in the NHL either of the next two years...what are they truly expecting to happen by acquiring Debrincat?

From the devils POV would you rather take wright at 2 or trading Wright+2023 1st for Cat? If i'm the devils I take Wright. Just trying to considering the other teams side here.

We interact fairly often on this site so I do want to put this out there. I'll be shocked if cat isn't on the opening night blackhawks roster. I just don't see any team coming up to Davidson's demands, and in the little we've seen from KD he doesn't seem like he's going to back down from them easily. Consider me shocked if cat is traded at all, and even more shocked if its in the next 24 hours before the draft

Oh I'm baffled the two teams with the most interest are actually two teams worse than the Hawks last year. It makes zero sense for either of them to pull the 2022 version of the Seth Jones trade. BUT that doesn't mean the Hawks bend to their demands either. I'm 100% ok if he's on the roster. TDL moves get more bang for the buck anyway.

***edit*** I guess maybe the NJD might be able because of their farm system depth. The Hawks traded away futures without having any depth.
