What do Pens fans have against Heinen?? He scored 18 goals last season(more than Domi has in his last 3 seasons), is only 27, still an RFA, & a legit 3rd line winger. At LEAST trade him for something, I highly doubt Pens management is just going to release him for nothing.

I think Pens fans appreciate what Heinen did last year. But because of how well he played as you mentioned, he will most likely price himself out of a roster spot. And teams won't trade for his rights if they can just sign him once he hits UFA. His shooting % last year was an outlier, he spent a lot of time with Malkin which boosted production, and he doesn't have a huge upside that would make people really want to go after him. Solid player, but in the Kapanen/Erod/Heinen sweepstakes, he ranks last.

I kind of thought he could be packaged in a deal for JT miller, if the Pens were interested of course. Heinen would be considered a home town boy in Vancouver and they could use some bottom 6 scoring.
