Yes. He has 2 years of RFA left. So after 2 years he's UFA. He stated he won't be signing with Winnipeg for his UFA years and will be leaving after Winnipeg loses contract control.
Therefore, Winnipeg has 2 RFA years of value to manage. The longer they wait as he approaches UFA, the more value the Jets lose. He's a depreciating asset. They are set to lose his services for nothing. Teams know this.
Thanks for your strong effort though. Appreciated.
Ah, I see, you don't understand the situation and have taken you own assumptions as fact.
Dubois had not ever said he won't sign in Winnipeg for his UFA years, he's only said he wants to test UFA.
There is almost no chance the Jets lose Dubois for nothing, as it is unlikely Winnipeg uses him as an own rental in two years. They can easily move him next summer or the TDL after that and easily get far more than this offer.
His bare minimum price is a 1st and a good prospec. at the TDL in two seasons. So, if teams want the additional 2 years of control before that they will need to ante up and meet Chevy's price. GM's know this and understand Winnipeg has all the control on if, where and when Winnipeg trades Dubois.
Lowball offers don't stand a chance of being considered.
