I think he's one of the worst. Dubie was handed the keys to the kingdom and has only made the Leafs worse season after season. But winning playoff rounds matters to me. Not to the Leafs obviously. MLSE only cares about making money and lots of it. Which they certainly do.

How has he made them worst?......The Leafs actually had their best regular season record ever this year.......He also was able to hold on to all of the Leafs best prospects at the trade deadline this year which bodes well for the future.

MLSE would make even more money if the Leafs would go deeper in the playoffs in the future.

I don't go by regular season. Playoff success is what matters to me. When Detroit won 62 games 131 points in 95-96 I considered that season a failure. Why? Because they didn't win the Cup.

All the great teams seem to have to experience failure before they push through to win a championship.

Sure. But they also win a few playoff rounds a few years before they win the Cup.

I totally agree with you as you grow as a team by playing and winning playoff rounds.

In all honesty the Leafs were outmatched in their playoff losses to Washington and Boston but should have beaten Columbus and Montreal........I think they were beaten by a better team and goaltender in Tampa this year.

He actually is the exact type of player Toronto needs. A top 6 clutch power forward. Someone like Nichushkin or Miller works too. I personally think they should really pursue Miller to move Tavares to the wing

Tampa is ruthless at not signing older players? Cory Perry? Zach Bogosian? Brian Elliott?

That's for a max of 1 million for depth players.

Typical Leafs fan delusion. Studs and Duds doesn't work. Quality depth wins. Look at Colorado. Shiny Toy syndrome has failed Dubie. Well in the playoffs anyway.

Matthews is gone in 2 years as a UFA. Tavares has lost a step and shouldn't be playing C. Marner loves his dirty dangles and Matthews loves his sick snipes. Great for the regular season but doesn't win you playoff games. Nylander should be traded but never will be while Dubas is Leafs GM. Pokemon Leafs. Gotta keep em all!

Lol that second take is pure hot take garbage. What wins you playoff series is goals simple as, do Stamkos's Snipes suddenly not win playoff series. I agree depth scoring is what has cost the Leafs at times particularly this year, but I don't think it's impossible to win with stars and duds I think Pittsburgh did it similarly. As for Matthews UFA you have as much insight as anyone else here, which means none. Frankly if he wasn't a Leaf I doubt people would say he'd leave.

Obviously until the Leafs win a round these comments will never end.

Imagine comparing the current Leafs to those Cup winning Pens teams. Win something. Smarten up.
