Description

Flames re-tool/rebuild idea - Unload veteran depth guys @ deadline for more pieces if out of a playoff spot (Tanev, Hanifin, Backlund etc)

Forsberg unites with team Sweden.
Few years of Trochek, might be light on the salary here but room to offer more. Wouldn't go anymore than 3 years though, just enough to bridge the gap of a "re-tool/rebuild".

NJD - I've seen numerous trades for Tkachuk on here, always centered around something similar. I know some want Mercer but I think NJ would rather Holtz.
NYR - Rumblings Chytil looking to move, is this enough? Monahan back from surgery, but this one went better than any other, looking to bounce back and 50% retained for 1 year and fits in where Strome was lost.

Colorado - With both Makar and Byram would Colorado be willing to move Girard for a signed RFA (probably around the 5M mark so a wash in contract value) who just put up 38 goals and could slot in quite well in the top 6 for a fraction of the price of the other big name UFA's ?

Its already been reported that if Johnny walks Calgary isn't going to make any rash decisions. So a signing like Forsberg or Trocheck simply wont happen. The draft will be over by then so you can forget about the New Jersey trade.

This whole 1 year of Tkachuk argument is so silly. Fiala just got traded and signed a 7 year deal with the exact same RFA status. This isn't like Miller or Pastrnak where then are a pending UFA.

In your mind why does Tkachuk want to hit free agency? To sign overseas? To get less money on a max 7 year deal? None lf it makes sense

I'm having a hard time valuing players. Because this is same trade people are proposing for DeBrincat and its too much. Now it's too much for Matthew Tkachuk,the exact player Devils fans are drooling about ( Heavier skill)?

I'm of the opinion that there is almost no trade worth it for 2oa. Swap out Holtz and Smith for say, Zacha and Muk and we might be talking, but if Gaudreau isn't a Flame come fall, five bucks says he's a Devil, and if the Devils are waiting for UFA to court Gaudreau, that would mean 2oa is off the table.

If Gaudreau extended with Calgary in the coming days, I would consider a trade for Tkachuk or Debrincat. I'm very heavily inclined to just make the pick, since any one of Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, and Jiricek panning out would be worth it.
