Value is fair. But with Edvinsson, Johansson and Wallinder on the way at LD I don't see a need for Sandin.

Detroit may have been the wrong team to trade him to. Detroit is stacked with young defense.

Teams may offer sheet Sandin, and the compensation could be a 2nd round pick. So his value is within that range.

And all those players will have multiple teams calling, the Leafs will have to overpay somewhat.

Then Toronto matches and trades Muzzin simple. If the value aint there Toronto aint trading Sandin

As for those players they want that much dont need them

There are cheaper guys on the market that can make an impact

Yes we certainly are at LD. Good thing we have Seider and Hronek at RD. Because Tuomisto is the only D coming up at RD. If Dubie decides to trade Sandin he should have no problems finding takers.

Trading Muzzin won't be easy. He's playing in his hometown and has a NTC.

Its either trade or waivers

As before McDonagh agreed to get traded BrisBois has a waiver backup plan with the CBJ

Got a feeling Toronto will do the same with Muzzin

Toronto can make a deal with CBJ where they waive Muzzin and he gets claimed by them

Where did you hear JBB threatened RMD with waivers? Not exactly a good way to attract UFA's when a GM pulls that crap.

I think Sandin's fate on the Leafs was sealed when Dubas brought in Giordano and resigned him. I don't see him moving Muzzin, and Sandin won't play the right side.

Hopefully Sandin gets dealt as part of a package for a top six forward on a cheap deal. Losing him for a 2nd will be the worst outcome.

Sandin is staying even with Giordano you dont move a 22 year old to keep a 33 and 39 year old. Leafs can move 5.65mill Muzzin and sign Sandin to a 2mill bridge

I'm thinking Sandin might be worth keeping around. Muzzin is injury prone and Gio is older than Yoda. Both players will need some games off. But Sandin should be more than a part time player.

I don't know about Kypreos. He once declared "Ryan Suter to Detroit. Done deal." Suter signed with Minny.

Suter and Parise were very close to signing in Detroit but Minny outbid them by 8mill

Kind of a good thing as did you really want that awful deal on the books for 5 more years

Like could you imagine having to sit there with 13mill buyouts not good

Suter was right in his prime back then. Lidstrom had just retired. Rafalski retired the year before. Suter would've been a great signing for us. We ended up losing to Chicago in the 2nd round of the playoffs in 2013 after being up 3-1 in the series. I believe we win that series with Suter in the lineup. But I wouldn't have given Suter that term.

Holland went all in on Suter that summer and lost out on other options. IIRC he ended up signing a washed up Carlo Colaiacovo who didn't last very long.

You think Toronto will be willing to pay over 4 million for sandin? What if it’s for 1 year too? best case scenario the following contract goes to arbitration and the leafs will have to pay 85% of the former contract. Leafs don’t have the assets to devote 4 mil to sandin

If they move Muzzin yes they can. Heck they dont even need to move Muzzin to do it. They can move other guys

But in general Sandin aint worth 4mill

Hes worth basically what Liligren got as in reality he hasnt done much better

But which GM will have the guts to sign a player to an offer sheet? Bergy isn't a GM anymore. Canes don't need Sandin. Dimestore Donny Waddell has to get TDA signed.

Friedman was a guest on that show and confirmed that the Tampa GM had a CBJ waiver claim ready if McDonagh decided to block the Nashville trade.

Honestly, with the cap where it is and teams sitting at the top, we will see more of this. Question really is how much is the public really going to know about some of the moves.

Players and organizations can keep things quiet if they really want to.

I could win 5 small hands in poker but if I lose one big one am I up or down money. Dubas makes some good small moves and some decent ones too. Bunting and spez were good moves. He made a good move with bringing in Campbell. He made Good enough moves to make the playoffs and almost make the second round (not trying to be a dick but leafs definitely deserved a second round appearance this year). The problem comes when you have nearly half the salary cap wrapped up in 4 players. That’s where the problem is. Leafs have consistently overpaid. Matthews deserves every penny of his contract. I doubt marner would be over PPG without matthews. He’s a good player to surround him with and he has clearly produced but I doubt he puts up 97 points playing with anybody other than mcdavid matthews ovi crosby and mac. Those are just players who make the players around them better. They have that factor that you can only get in the best players in the league. Tavares is good but not worth 11 mil a year. Maybe 8.5 on a good day. Compare him to Sebastian aho. Both are PPG players. Aho makes 8.5 and is 7 years younger. The fact is is that the leafs grossly overpay their players to keep them around for years to come but in the end they r shooting them selves in the foot because they are valuing short term success over long term dynasties. There is no excuse to have the second best player in the world and so much high end talent around him and you still can’t win a series. I know hockey is a team sport and matthews can only carry so much but a player like matthews should be leading a team past the first round. If the leafs had taken Tavares’s 11 mil and used it on say better 3rd liners and possibly would have been able to pay marlues last year and could have kept the 13th OA pick that turned into Seth jarvis. Tbh id rather have jarvis on the leafs than Tavares and that’s not the canes bias in me, it’s the fact that jarvis is 20 and has put up 40 pts in 68 games at that would be more if he was on the leafs playing with Matthew’s. Imagine a bunting but younger. The Tavares signing will be the reason the leafs continue to be mediocre because it has forced their hand so many times and will continue to force it and don’t be surprised if it is the reason they can’t pay matthews to stay in Toronto in 2 years.

True now that bergy isn’t the gm of the habs anymore I do not see any future offer sheets cuz the rest of the league still has that gentleman’s agreement not to poach RFAs. I really want to see the leafs hand forced tho this year, maybe by a rival with cap but who is that is the question.
