Jackets Trade Down From 6

Description
According to recent comments from Dr. Kekalainen, it is unlikely they'll be trading up and if they don't like who is available at #6 they will take a look at trading down. I would assume this is code for if Nemec and Jiricek are gone they'll look to trade down. Figured I'd take a look at who might be able to offer a package that would entice them to do it. Feel free to offer opinions on value adjustments or whether or not your team would be interested in getting pick #6 to get someone not named Jiricek or Nemec.

Not so sure. The scenario here is both right d are off the board. Personally I'm fine with it if they wanna grab two nice forwards at 6 at 9, assuming at least one is a real center. I kinda figure adams would rather take bpa at 9 and 16, then draft a right d at 28.

If you get forwards at 6 and 9 you can make a trade for RD. And they pick again at 41

Buffalo wouldn’t trade up to 6 if Both RHDs are gone. If one were there then I could see this.

Sharks aren’t moving Bordeleau for Foudy and 5 spots in the draft. Bordeleau has a higher ceiling imo and has already shown to be effective in the nhl with 5 points in 8 games. The drop off of talent from 6 to 11 isn’t that great either.

The more I think about this draft the more I see that there is no way the Jackets trade down from 6. We know in some order that Wright Cooley, and Slafkovsky are going in the first 3 picks. The Jackets could easily use either of the two RHD or Gauthier. Trading down will not be in the cards here considering this.

Just going off what Jarmo said the other day. It's something they're going to consider doing if they don't like who is available if he is to be believed.

Love the evaluation here! Great look at ideas. I interpreted the same from Jarmo re: Nemec and Jiricek. I feel like he might be low on Gauthier but I've heard the same about Nemec as well.

I like picking at 12 and 16, we could still swing Nazar and Ohgren or even one of the other top D (Mateychuk/Mintyukov/Korchinksi in my preference order) or even get a later look at a Bichsel or Chesley or the like. The more picks on the top 50 the better, it feels like a deep draft of exciting prospects even if the top 3 aren't up to snuff.

I'd also take a look at #6 for #9 and #41 from Buffalo if #9 and #28 is too rich (player balancing possible?).

Anaheim at #10 & #22 or #42 also makes sense to me.

That’s a ridiculous price to pay to move up three spots in the draft as Buffalo.
        Quoting: dk325
They would be moving up 10 spots. That trade is #16, #28 and Philly's 2023 2nd for #6

As much as I think Sabre fans would like the team to make a move with one of those first rounders to grab a young player that will make the team better now, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they simply keep all the picks and use them.

I looked at four different draft charts and the trade as written ranges from an over pay to a gross over pay.
There is no way Karmanos nor Crowe would accept this deal. Maybe Adams would as he only got smart when those two tell him what to do.

Well, yeah. They're all in the range of paying above what #6 is worth on those charts because it's assumed that there would be multiple teams interested in getting the pick.
