Jackets Trade Down From 6

Description
According to recent comments from Dr. Kekalainen, it is unlikely they'll be trading up and if they don't like who is available at #6 they will take a look at trading down. I would assume this is code for if Nemec and Jiricek are gone they'll look to trade down. Figured I'd take a look at who might be able to offer a package that would entice them to do it. Feel free to offer opinions on value adjustments or whether or not your team would be interested in getting pick #6 to get someone not named Jiricek or Nemec.

Just to reiterate, this would be a trade down scenario in which Jiricek and Nemec are likely gone so factor that in to whether or not your team would be interested at all in getting #6.

Detroit declines. We'll stay at 8OA. Yzerman drafts too well to be giving up an extra 2nd round pick. I'm hoping for Savoie or Gauthier.

I’d rather keep 6 and trade back from 12 tbh, but if someone is willing to overpay then sure.

I very much doubt that there will be a player available at #6 that isn't there at #8 and is so much better that it warrants giving up a 2nd round pick for Yzerman. If Kemell is gone then Lekkerimäki will be there and Kasper will be available at #10 in which case Detroit might want to trade down themselves. Two spots won't make much of a difference for where Detroit picks we'll get a good player anyway.

I'd say wings accept. Especially if there's a player at 6th that Detroit covets that they're pretty sure will be taken before 8th.

The 52nd overall is around a 25% chance of turning into an every day NHL'er. The difference between 6 and 8 could be the difference between getting a Moritz Seider vs a Philip Broberg.

That’s a ridiculous price to pay to move up three spots in the draft as Buffalo.

Too high a price to pay. Not worth it. Yzerman got Soderblom in round 6. No need to waste picks.

The Sharks one intrigues me. I like the idea of stockpiling Wolverines, and there will be plenty of great quality left at eleven.

I’d gladly move Washington’s 2nd round pick to get Gauthier at #6. That’s cheap.

I’d give up even more (outside of 23’ 1st) to move up from #8 to #4 to get Nemec, if he’s there.

It is quite in fact NOT too high of a price. I guess there is no sense in debating this with someone who thinks late 2nd round picks are worth more than securing one of the top players in the draft and one so highly coveted.

Yeah I like it too. Build a group of guys that want to continue playing together. Would probably be willing to add more to get that one done depending on how the Sharks feel about Bordeleau.

This is way to conservative of an approach. It's really not that high of a price...considering that 52nd overall was a small bonus in the Mantha Trade.
Rethink of the trade as Mantha for Vrana, a 1st and the option to move up 2 spots in the 2022 draft with your own 1st round pick.
If Detroit wants to guarantee getting a player and that's all it takes? Absolutely.

In this situation Buffalo keeps the 9th OA. However, the Jackets would essentially be trading down from 6 to 15. Not happening. There would need to be a substantial return coming back the Jackets way and this is not it.

As much as I think Sabre fans would like the team to make a move with one of those first rounders to grab a young player that will make the team better now, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they simply keep all the picks and use them.

Yeah I like it too. Build a group of guys that want to continue playing together. Would probably be willing to add more to get that one done depending on how the Sharks feel about Bordeleau.

No chance of a Beniers or a Power (god, I wish there was a possible way to get Power, lol), but Bordeleau or Brisson from VGK? Yes, please.

        Buffalo easily takes that

Not so sure. The scenario here is both right d are off the board. Personally I'm fine with it if they wanna grab two nice forwards at 6 at 9, assuming at least one is a real center. I kinda figure adams would rather take bpa at 9 and 16, then draft a right d at 28.

Sharks hang up the phone in 0.0000000000001 seconds.

To move up 1 spot I’d give up an extra 3rd maybe. Bordeleau >>>>>> Foudy.

Sharks would be moving up 5 spots. The trade is #11 and Bordeleau for #6 and Foudy. As I said elsewhere, would be fine adding more depending on how the Sharks feel about Bordeleau.

The speed needed to hang up the phone that quickly would likely explode their desk at the draft and cause them to miss out on most of their picks, so unlikely. Yes in my mind they're using an old fashioned telephone.

Sorry you’re right I edited my post lol. Total brain fart we picked 7th last year.

For 5 spots, it’s not bad value but I can’t see SJ moving on from Bordeleau like that.
