No way that the Sabres take the full value of Murray's contract on, even if they have the cap space - and, considering how the Senators are toying with buying him out if they don't find any takers, I doubt Ottawa has any leverage to push back on salary retention. Although I don't see where Buffalo can fit Ruotsalainen on their roster if Quinn and Peterka are promoted and Olofsson re-signed, Adams and Karmanos did say that Ruotsalainen is still in their plans - so I wonder if they're ready to give up on him yet.

Forgetting the hometown angle, the Sabres don't have roster space for another forward unless they bring Foligno on as the 13th forward.

I wouldn't do the trade, just know who the kid is.

I started peterka in AHL. He will likely get 30-40 NHL games in this scenario.

Foligno wants to win the Cup, it's unlikely he has Buffalo on his list.

The city he was born in and where his father and brother played? I doubt it.

Also, if/when buffalo falls out of it, he will be dealt to a contender
