Description
Kane’s arbitration kills his market

Lankinen is brought on to see what he can do behind a good defense. Just depth / insurance in case of injuries. Can waive him and mutual buyout with no penalty if it doesn’t work out at camp.

I think the Sabres would probably do that. You can keep the 5'10" left d though, not really adding any value, and it's not doing him any favors with our depth at left d.

Jets probably ask for a 2nd back and a decent prospect. Would Suzuki be available? I’m not sure where he stands in CAR organization and thought maybe he could use a change of scenery. If that’s too much I’m sure the jets would be happy with just a pick.

If Jets are retaining Wheeler probably a 2nd and a solid spec, and Demelo maybe a low 2nd or high third but I like Demelo and wouldn’t trade him imo if I’m the jets

Our primary need now that we have landed Kevin Fiala is at LD. Necas is a fine young player but not for us -- try the next county over, down the 5.

For half retained Wheeler and DeMelo what about Necas and a 5th?

The ruling isn’t over until 2+ weeks into FA. Most teams will have committed their money already. His only other option would be going to a bad team

because he might remain a shark (im not familiar with this debacle)? and wouldnt the canes aswell have comitted their money somwhere else since they are looking to contend too wouldnt you think?

It is entirely possible that the Canes may committed their money as well. Unless someone is willing to accept their terms, Canes will be a month into FA with cap space. Just as they were last season that ended in a Kotkaniemi offer sheet.

The Kane arbitration is a wrongful termination arbitration. He will either get nothing, money from the Sharks for wrongful termination, or have his old contract re-instated. That is the order of likelihood of rulings, imo, as well.

Fair enough. What is the ask for Iaffalo? What is the ask for that deal without Necas coming back?

I think that the ask for Iafallo would be your 2023 first, perhaps with a mid-range pick coming back (we have two thirds in 2023), but I'd be surprised if you were willing to go two years without a first. Durzi for Necas feels right on value but, as I said earlier, Necas is a luxury rather than an essential. I think that we'd only move Durzi for an equivalent LD, and I don't see one on your roster (like Zach Jones, for example, although that's not a perfect comparable because Durzi already has one pretty successful season under his belt). Iafallo and Durzi plus a first-round pick and a second-round pick would probably get us Jakob Chychrun, but I don't think that you'd be willing to part with Jacob Slavin.

@ecupirate07 I may be undervaluing Necas, but seems like a lot to me.
Maybe a that is the going rate for center who scores 18 goals and 50 pts.

As a Sabre fan, I would love to see Iafallo wearing the Blue and Gold.
So Iafallo and 2022 3rd to Buffalo for FLA 2022 first round pick?
Since Alex grew up only 20 minutes from Key Bank Center (I think it was called HSBC when he was young), he may welcome a trade to Buffalo?

All fair. It was more valuations based on LA needing to shed money and get talent. I did have a LA fan agree to it before but deals rarely are right here.
