If you are making a trade like Kerfoot for Samsonov, I think you can do better than Wheeler.

Wheeler has the size, leadership, and playmaking ability the Leafs could use in their top 6. There are other, more expensive options for sure, but I kind of like the fit. Keeps our top prospects in the cupboard too.

Wheeler and Scheifele just bring toxic leadership in WPG and the Leafs already have a lot of Leaders in the locker room. Biggest issue is that he has a NMC and 2 years left and he's up there in age if he becomes undesirable. As for size and playmaking ability, I'm sure something will turn up in FA even if it's two different players.

Value is fine but don’t see the caps trading Sammy for Kerfoot.

Leafs certainly don't need Wheeler at 4 especially if cost them prospects. Hollowell is not an NHL Dman. One is needed. Holmberg and Douglas shouldn't be on the team next season, especially in the top 12.

Yes I’m aware Hollowell is not an NHL dman lol, this is just to show that you can fit a 22-man roster.

I disagree, I don’t think we have enough leadership. And Spezza leaves a hole there. Wheeler can still play hockey man.

I know he can still play but at 4m with a NMC that can become a problem.

As for the Leadership, Spezza does leave a whole but I don't think Wheeler would be a leader in the Leafs locker room.
