Boeser has a better PPG then Fiala

You are 100% correct ... so I will like your comment before countering with this:

Points Per 82 Games (NHL Career Totals)

Boeser = 65
Fiala = 55

Points Per 82 Games (Last 3 Season Totals)

Boeser = 62
Fiala = 75

Points Per 82 Games (Last 2 Season Totals)

Boeser = 61
Fiala = 78

Points Per 82 Games (Last Season Totals)

Boeser = 53
Fiala = 85

They're trending in opposite directions ... and Fiala has been far more productive over the last 3 years.

BTW I never mentioned the Fiala contract ... and I honestly don't think it's very good either.

I was hoping they could get him for 3 or 4 yrs at around 6- 6.2, so this isnt bad. He has 40goal potential but hasnt come close to achieving that yet. If he does- this is a steal, but if he isnt able to take that next step- then this is an overpay, but for short term. He didnt deserve a raise, but there is still lots of upside for both parties. If he gets 40+ hes going to get paid and still be able to get another multiyear deal at big $$$ (especially as the cap starts to rise again).

Not so sure he's part of the long term solution in VAN. Hard to argue with this contract though.

My first thought was cheap!!! But then I checked and he's kind of seemed to not be able to consistently be a stud forward. He's on the cusp.

The other thing is he clearly gave up $$ to get early Ufa. It's always a gamble on injuries but he's hoping to get a big 7-8 year deal in his late 20s

The difference is boeser is younger and historically a better goal scorer. But I agree the trends favour Fiala a lot

Right now he is, but in terms of overall career PPG, Boeser's is still higher

Boeser could have just taken 7.5Mx1 for 2 years if he wanted to maximise money so this is definitely a win for Vancouver.
