If the Kings acquire Forsberg, I agree that Kempe is on his way out. However, that's not the return they'd be looking for.

Once again, utterly failing to evaluate all-around quality properly. You'll learn.

No matter how you slice it, Iafallo isn’t worth a first and second. And you might not value Johnson as a second, but the Sabres get a second if he doesn’t sign, so he is a second round value to them. He’s Kyle Okposo with a better contract (and less injury concerns but minus veteran leadership) Good defensively, can chip in offensively if asked to at an acceptable but not spectacular rate. All around decent NHLer (this may sound like a slight it isn’t). His value is more then Johnson but less then Johnson and a first.

Fair?

Also **** shiny silver helmets

Yes, and we Los Angeles fans were right all along.

Side note first: the $$$$ing silver helmets are MUCH worse than that.

Main point: you strike the right balance here because my original comment was an overreaction to a foolish proposal. My second comment -- the one you quoted -- was specifically about the equation of Iafallo with Johnson and the denial that he is worth a first. Iafallo is worth much, much more than the unsigned Johnson, but probably worth less by himself than the Florida first PLUS Johnson. (I think that he's worth the Florida first by himself.) And I think that you're seriously undervaluing Iafallo's 200-foot game; he's a true second-liner who would easily be the best defensive forward on the Sabres.

Maybe. Asplund is pretty darn exceptional as a defensive forward. It’s not often guys with his point totals ( hint nonexistent) get any Selke looks. And I’m not undervaluing his 200 foot game. Because his offense alone is bordering 2/3rd line. It’s his defensive/200 foot play that make a true second liner

Asplund has less than two full seasons under his belt, Iafallo has 5, so I'd take him over Asplund. And I agree with you that Iafallo is a cusp second-third liner, but his offense shouldn't be overlooked; annualized, Casey Mittelstadt had the same productivity.

My testiness comes from earlier run-ins with Buffalo fans whom I suspect suffer from lack of exposure to West Coast teams by living in the Eastern time zone who consistently dismiss Iafallo as being of no possible use or value to the Sabres. He would be of great value to Buffalo; the three-year term left on his deal in particular fits the Sabres well.

For sure, it would all just come down to cost. And while Asplund has 2 NHL seasons, he does have 400+ professional games between the NHL AHL and SHL. He’s been the same player at every stop, and now that he’s done it at the NHL level I feel very confident he can keep it up

Once again, overvaluing your guy
Iafallo is a 3rd liner
3rd liners aren’t worth a 1st & a good prospect who was picked in the 1st
That’s just utterly laughable

Fiala got the equivalent of two 1sts
Iafallo is nowhere near his level

Yeah. And @Lsendel3's evaluation of Rasmus Asplund didn't age well, either.

It didn’t, I’ll admit that. Don’t know what happened, but he was very good defensively last year.

My evaluation on those silver helmets is still spot on though

He was obviously traded at that value bc of his rookie season last year where he scored 24goals
He’s not your TYPICAL 3rd liner by ANY means
